Leandra Medine of Man Repeller Announces Book Release

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

Everyone’s favorite satirical blogger, Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, can now add author to her résumé. With her humorous approach to fashion, she coined the term “Man Repeller”, which according to the queen herself is anyone who “outfits oneself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex.” She then goes on to list articles of clothing that constitute as “man repelling”: clogs, shoulder pads, drop crotch pants, leather overalls, and so forth.

Her first book, entitled Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls., is set to hit stores on September 10, and the instant she blogged about its release, fans sacrificed next Saturday’s BYO to pre-order her book ($14.99). The book first explores her naïve sartorial tragedies that rendered her boyfriend-less and then brings us through the birth of Man Repeller, both the blog and her identity. The novel ends in the present, where Man Repeller is married and still rocking the harem pants.

In her own words, this book will expose “things like seer sucker Bermuda shorts and the ankle length white socks I forgot to take off the first time I was engaged in sexual intercourse.” Who can resist a teaser like that? And if a book wasn’t enough, you can find Man Repeller all over the internet…literally. For a good laugh, check out her Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Pinterest.

Bottom line: if you don’t read a book written by the very woman who titled a blog post “A Chin Strap Will Never Get You Laid“, you’re missing out.

Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls. is available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Indiebound.
