Laura A. Ruiz Colón was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and at the age of 12 she moved to Minnesota. Laura is currently a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She plans to pursue a degree in Communications at the College of Arts and Sciences and a minor in Legal Studies & History with the Wharton School of Business. As a freshman she has enjoyed living in the East Coast while exploring the great restaurants and museums in the city of Philadelphia. At UPenn she is involved with the Latino Coalition, Penn Appetit Food Magazine and the Puerto Rican Undergraduate Student Association. During her free time Laura enjoys being a mentor in the Big Brother Big Sister Program, reading literature and writing poetry. In addition, she loves spending time with family and friends!
