What is 34th Street Magazine?
34th Street is Penn’s arts and culture magazine. We publish online daily and in print every Thursday. We publish long-form investigative journalism, first-person stories, gossip, food quizzes, expertly curated Spotify playlists, and everything in between. We’re a community of 36+ editors, reports, photographers, marketers, designers, and marketers who moonlight as Penn students.
What inspired you to run for Editor-in-Chief of 34th Street?
As soon as I attended my first Writers Meeting (every Thursday at 6:30pm!), I knew I wanted to be Editor-in-Chief. 34th Street is the reason I love Penn and I wanted to give that experience and love to our audience and to my staff members as Editor-in-Chief.
What is it like being Editor-in-Chief?
Every day I solve problems through creative thinking. I love it because I get to lead an amazing community of people driven by a shared goal: creating great content.
What has been your favorite feature in the magazine?
Hard to say–there’s so many amazing ones! I have to say “Most Eligible Bachelor’s at Penn” (albeit not a feature) was one of my favorite pieces of content we’ve produced because it generated major conversation on campus.
What is your favorite, non-school related magazine?
I follow a lot of different publications for a lot of reasons, I LOVE the New York Times, Vice, and New York Maganize.
