5 Last-Minute Decorations to Get Into the Valentine’s Days Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

Valentine’s Day (a day full of very mixed emotions) IS HERE!!!

Regardless of whether you have someone in your life, Valentine’s Day can be a challenge. If you have someone to celebrate with, you’re nervous about certain expectations you might need to achieve in order to make your special someone feel loved. And if you don’t have someone in your life…well, that’s not possible because there are always people out there that love you. This year, I’m celebrating Valentine’s Day with one of my closest friends and going on a ski trip with the rest of my dorm.

It’s super easy to get swept up in the emotions of Valentine’s Day, but just remember that the day is meant to celebrate the ones you love and not necessarily significant others: friends, family, classmates, teachers, but most importantly YOURSELF!!!

Here at college, it’s hard to remember to love yourself. The easiest way to remember to love yourself and those around you is to decorate your dorm. Waking up with hearts surrounding your room can only serve as a reminder. Not only will you be greeted by the Valentine’s Day spirit each time you open the door, but you might also start a trend in your hall. Decorating your dorm is super easy and can be done through the amazing Amazon Center right here on campus!

Here’s a list of different decorations you can use to get into the Valentine’s Day spirit! What’s better, with Amazon Prime, these last-minute decorations can be yours very soon!

A Garland For Your Door Frame

Putting this garland around your doorway is a great way to get into the lovey dovey spirit. Anyone walking down the hall will fall in love with your door (which basically means they fall in love with you) and will be overcome with the desire to decorate their own door! While I say that, I’m not a girl who loves pink; I LOVE me some glitter. But when I found this garland, I knew that I needed to own it!

Valentine’s Inspired Fairy Lights

I love these fairy lights! When purchasing fairy lights to decorate your door, look for ones that are battery operated. You don’t want to deal with fairy lights that won’t light up because you can’t plug them in. After I found these on Amazon, they were in my cart. I hope everyone will enjoy the love they represent.

Pins to Decorate Your Backpack

Depending on your bag or sweater, decorating it can be a great option. Pins are a great way to decorate because they (thankfully!) usually don’t leave big holes. While this set only has two different styles, it means that you can place them anywhere without fear of someone missing out on your amazing accessory.

Shoelaces

We all know that white shoes are in, which also means that, unfortunately, the majority of our shoelaces are white. Yuck. However, there is no need to fear. These heart embellishments for your shoelaces are on my wish list! The contrast between your white shoes and these bright red hearts will draw all wandering eyes straight to your adorable feet.

Stickers to Decorate your Water Bottle (or Computer Case)

The VSCO girl movement is sweeping the nation. Decorating water bottles is so much fun, and having a fun Valentine’s theme just makes it even cuter. It might just be the conversation starter you need to find your special someone. I chose this particular set because of the wide variety of stickers that can be placed on anything and everything that you own. Right now, decorating your computer case is also in.

And there you have it! Five easy and fun ways for the last-minute decorator to get into the Valentine’s Day spirit!
