Winter Bod > Dad Bod

With winter fast approaching, the time for comfy sweaters, cozy blankets, mittens, scarfs, balaclavas and parkas is upon us. The temps are dropping and the school stress is rising, so why not start working on that desired ‘winter bod.’

1. Decide, Commit, SucceedAchieving a winter bod is no small task. You need to have the necessary commitment to push yourself when needed. No one can bake those cookies for you. No one will be there to press ‘continue watching.’ It’s on you to commit to yourself that this year’s winter bod will be your greatest achievement of 2015.

2. Create a Reward SystemSometimes eating 2 boxes of KD isn’t all that appetizing and you would just rather eat a bag of lettuce (we’ve all been there!). To help keep you on track create small rewards! Get that duvet you’ve been eyeing and wear it proud all over your apartment. Blanket monsters are a beautiful winter creature. Or, buy yourself a book on the world’s greatest comfort foods. Whatever it is, reward yourself for your hard work.

3. Meal PrepThis step is VITAL. When leaving bed for more than 10 minutes has to happen, you’ll need some go to meals that are easy to heat up. Best tips: keep a local pizza place on speed dial, have cookies ready, stock your fridge with prepared pasta. Think carbs. Winter bods are made in the kitchen (or bed, depends your preference of dining location).

4. Daily MotivationEveryday, try to remind yourself what your goals are and why they are so important. Try sticky notes on your mirror! Or, spread the winter bod positivity and see others progress by using #winterbodstrong or #cookiesandcreamreignsupreme

5. Find InspirationIs there someone who you look up to when achieving your winter bod? Who comes to mind? It’s probably the Cookie Monster and if not, you need to re-evaluate.

6. It’s the Little ThingsBy doing little things ahead of time, you’ll be more likely to achieve your goals. Try opening all the windows so you are forced to stay in bed from the cold. Or, buy a mini fridge and place it beside your bed. Candy stash under your bed. It all helps in reaching your goals and are so easy to do ahead of time.

7. Be ConfidentWhether you’re at your desired winter bod goal or not, remember confidence is key! You are beautiful regardless of your appearance! So own it every day. To quote myself, “your body’s a wonderland.”
