Let’s says “goodbye” 2013 and “hello” to 2014! The New Year is right around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited. Of course, it’s going to be full of surprises,, but there are a few events that we can’t stop talking or thinking about.
1) The Pretty Little Liars are Back
Since 2008, we have all been hooked on this show which captures the dramatic lives of Aria, Emily, Hannah and Spencer. From murder, betrayal and heartbreak we all fell in love with this series. The previous season ended with a major twist. SPOILER ALERT: It left us wondering if Ezra is the leader of the A team, which has been torturing the girls since season one. As always, we hope that the fifth season will bring us the answers to all of our questions, but can be sure that there will be more drama than ever. The show will be back on January 7th, 2014. If you need your PLL fix before then, check out the spinoff Ravenswood, featuring Tyler Blackburn aka Caleb Rivers, which premiered on October 22nd following the Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode.
2) Justin is Coming to Town
The man is coming to Ottawa with his 20/20 experience tour. Justin Timberlake will be sporting his suit and tie at the Canadian Tire Centre on July 22nd 2014. You can already tell your friends and family to buy tickets to his show because it is going to be crazy fun. He will sing all of his new hits including Mirror and Take Back the Night. We all hope that Justin will reunite with his fellow band members Lance, JC, Joey and Chris to sing some of their classic songs.
3) Her Campus U Ottawa’s Charity Fashion Show: Catwalk for the Cure
Missed Ottawa Fashion Week and totally bummed about it? Well, you have a chance to redeem yourself by coming to our 2nd Annual Charity Fashion Show “Catwalk for the Cure” at the National Arts Center on January 25th. It’s going to be an awesome night hosted by comedian Jenn Hayward. The show will include some great designer such as Babes & Gents, Kings of Arts Clothing and many more. After the catwalk, there is an after party at The JunXion Public House. To purchase your tickets visit www.catwalkforthecure.com
4) Welcome Back Neptune High
The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here. It’s official, on March 17th, our favourite classmates and BFFs (Kristen Bell, Percy Dagg III and Tina Marjorina), from the TV show Veronica Mars, will return to Neptune High for their reunion on the big screen. For seven long years, fans were very sad that the series was cancelled. We were left with a lot of unanswered questions like “will Logan and Veronica finally be a couple again?” If you weren’t a fan of the show or never watched it, you still have time to catch-up on all three seasons before the movie airs. You won’t be disappointed.
5) More Kardashian Drama
2013 was a pretty big year for the Kardashian Klan. Kim had her first baby, North. Kris and Bruce Jenner filed for divorce after 22 years of marriage. On top of that, everyone knew that Khloé and her husband, Lamar Odom, were having trouble, especially when Lamar’s drug issues were brought into the public eye. She filed for divorce in early December. However, there are rumors that she is seeing someone new already. Indeed, there are more important things to talk about other than reality TV drama, but admit it, it’s very entertaining. I surely want to see what happens to this family in the upcoming year.
6) Gleeks get Louder
Unfortunately, with the passing of Cory Monteith, the producer of the show announced that they will not renew Glee for a 7th season. It’s sad news for all the Gleeks out there, but we understand the decision. On the other hand, some fans might be happy to learn that Lea Michele, one of the stars of the show, will release her debut album Louder in March. Her single Cannonball is definitely about her passed fiancé Cory.. I can’t wait to put my hands on her album.
7) Here comes the Bride
There are many celebrity weddings coming up in 2014: Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Katy Perry and John Mayer and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to name a few. However, there is one wedding where we can’t wait to see whether the bride actually walks down the aisle and it’s none other than Perrie Edwards, who we all know is engaged to Zayn Malik, member of One Direction. The couple said they wouldn’t get married in 2014, but we all think it’s a distraction, because they want to keep the real wedding date a secret. Lets keep our eyes open.
8) The 2014 Winter Olympics
While some people wait for the World Cup and others just live for the Stanley Cup, I anxiously wait for the Olympics. It doesn’t matter if it’s the summer or Paralympic Games. I just want to see some athletes compete. The 2014 Winter Olympics will take place from February 6th-23rd in Sochi, Russia. I just love watching the amazing sports such as figure skating, Skeleton, Alpine skiing and seeing countries like Canada, the US, Greece and China coming together to create an enormous sporting event.
Make sure to mark these events on your calendar, you wouldn’t want to miss them! Which one are you most excited for? Don’t forget to leave some holes in your agenda for any unexpected events. I feel like 2014 is going to be awesome year!
Happy New Year to all Her Campus U Ottawa Readers!
