Valentine’s Day in Ottawa is usually pretty cold, but the city has lots to offer on this special day, and throughout the weekend. Whether you’re spending the day or the weekend with friends or your significant other, here are a few fun ideas for Valentine’s Day in this cold city.

Winterlude

Winterlude is Ottawa’s annual winter festival that consists of performances, interactive activities and great promotions across the city. You can take a stroll through the Byward Market and look at the wind chimes display, or the many insanely detailed ice sculptures. Keep your eyes peeled for restaurants with the Winterlude sign as they will have some fun deals!

Skating on the Rideau Canal

Skating on the Rideau Canal is probably the best activity you can partake in during the Ottawa winter. The Canal is the world’s largest skating rink, spanning many kilometers. Although it gets cold, this is the perfect activity for the occasion. While you’re skating, you can drink hot chocolate and eat Beaver Tails; it’s perfect!

Cacao 70

If you’re looking for some quality dessert, you should definitely check out Cacao 70. This is the perfect spot for a date night, or if you’re hanging out with some close friends. You can choose from fondue, crepes, ice-creams, waffles, and more sweets!

Movie Marathon

If you’re not up to going out, especially in the cold, a movie marathon is definitely the right choice. Snuggle up under a warm blanket with some tasty treats and turn on a marathon of your favourite movies. This is an affordable and easy way to have a great time with your loved ones.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Spread love and joy on this happy occasion!
