After spending months in sweatpants and sweatshirts during my online school days, I was more than ready to reinvent my wardrobe when school went back to in-person. With the summer season coming up, there’s also whole new trends coming out! Everything from clothes to accessories and shoes, the fashion industry has new and exciting things in store for the upcoming season. Now that I’m more interested in fashion, I’m curious to see how the fashion trends come and go and what’s in store for this next season!

Reimagined Raffia

Raffia brings to mind long summer days, beach scenes, and flowy summer dresses. This season, a new twist to the original raffia can be seen. Fashion is taking “bigger and better” and applying it to the classic raffia sun hat. It won’t be surprising if you see these being worn on the beach!

Big Buckles

The theme continues when it comes to big accessories, but this time with belts. This can be styled either more classically and elegantly by waist cinching it or keeping it more nostalgic and Y2K with a hip hugging style. I’m not sure this is totally my style, but it never hurts to try something new!

Rosettes

When I think about spring, florals immediately come into mind. It’s synonymous. This season, there’s a little twist to the classic floral—three dimensional florals. I love this idea; it almost like Lili Reinhart or Taylor Swift’s iconic flower dresses but on a smaller scale suitable for everyday use. These rosettes can be on belts, chokers, brooches, and more. I’m interested in seeing how this will be styled this season!

Red

Piggybacking off of the florals is the colour red. I love red clothing; a good chunk of my wardrobe has red, and I think the colour is super flattering on a lot of people. There seems to be a lean towards the head-to-toe red ensemble this season, which I’m all here for.

Oversized Blazers

The “bigger is better” trend extends to more than just accessories, but also to clothes. This isn’t particularly new, but the style seems to resist dying out and is still popular for another season. I’m personally not a big fan of oversized clothing—I’m too short to pull it off. But I love seeing other people rock oversized statement clothes. Bigger blazers are one of my favorites to see styled since it’s very versatile—it can be dressed up or down, be professional or casual.

I have to say, researching some of the upcoming trends makes me excited to see how they’ll be applied by people this season. I’m curious to see how people will put their own twist to these trends and personalize the items. Are you excited for any of these trends?
