Every reader has their favourite genre, and you’ll definitely be able to tell which one is mine by the end of this article… It’s quite obvious! Every reader has their favourite genre, but does every reader have a favourite book from each genre? As an avid reader, here is my favourite book from each genre:

Thriller

Verity – Colleen Hoover

Never will I ever recommend a book as much as I do this one. Verity is an amazing thriller with not only one, but two plot twists at the end that will leave you stunned!

Contemporary Romance

How to Love Your Neighbour – Sophie Sullivan

This was the hardest decision I have ever had to make, so to narrow it down, I decided to choose my most recent five-star read. However, in honourable mention: Beach Read by Emily Henry, Lease on Love by Falon Ballard, Electric Idol by Katee Robert, It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, and Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover are books I love as well.

Horror

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampire’s – Grady Hendrix

This is a brand new type of horror in my opinion. It is nothing like the works of Stephen King, but it will still leave you feeling like a horror book should!

Memoir/Autobiography

Running with Scissors – Augusten Burroughs

This memoir is extremely touching, and even funny at times. It describes a man going through his childhood examining exactly how he reached a point in his life where his addiction was ruining everything.

James Patterson

House of Kennedy – James Patterson

Yes, James Patterson is his own category. Patterson has written over 200 books and has been releasing approximately 10 books a year since the mid 1970’s! He has written so many different types of books that go beyond the scope of his usual crime novels. I have a bit of a Kennedy obsession, so this was definitely my favourite of his.

Comedy

UnHoneymooners – Christina Lauren

While this book is technically not meant to be a comedy it had me laughing the entire time! Such a great enemies to friends to lovers romance that is absolutely hilarious at all the best moments.

Erotica

The Beast – Katee Robert

No words.

Young Adult/Young Teen

Safe as Houses – Eric Walters

This is one book that I read and re-read as a child that I stand by as one of my all-time favourite books ever. I definitely recommend it to any young teen looking for a great Canadian read.

All these books are absolutely worth reading! Were you able to tell which genre is my personal favourite? ;)
