A smoothie is like the Queen of breakfast foods. It’s packed with healthy and delicious ingredients to get your day started right. Many people are still hesitant to try these green drinks though, as the unique colour seems to disguise the amazing taste. Add more green to your life this year in a healthy way – trust us, you won’t regret it! To help you get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit, we’ve compiled a few of our favourite recipes for green shakes!

Beginner’s Luck Green Smoothie

  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup mango
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1 banana

Add in a super food such as chia seeds, avocado, peanut butter, or protein powder to amp up your shake. Enjoy this fruity drink in the morning to feel refreshed and full of energy! Pro tip: spinach is expensive and typically goes bad within a week. Ensure you make the most of it by making frozen spinach cubes to use in your blender. Toss a few handfuls of spinach and a few cups of water into the blender, mix it up, pour it into your regular ice cube tray, and freeze! It’s easy, plus saves the worry of your spinach spoiling AND adds an extra cold kick to your drink.

Kale and Banana Smoothie

  • 3 cups kale
  • 1 large ripe banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

This delicious drink only has 295 calories, but 10 grams of protein! It’s super easy to make with only a few ingredients, curb your sweet craving, AND it beats stopping at Tim Hortons for an iced cap.

Detox Green Apple & Cucumber Smoothie

  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 ¼ green apple, diced
  • ½ cucumber
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 ice cubes

This recipe is so refreshing. Your body will thank you for the hydration provided in cucumbers which can really help clear up and brighten your skin. Don’t stress if you had one bad meal while partying over the weekend or when you were too busy during exams to buy groceries. Feeding your body a detox smoothie like this one will help refuel your mind and your muscles! Don’t be scared to throw something new in the blender.
