Thankful For Our Her Campus Chapters: Maddie Kelly from College of the Holy Cross

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mich chapter.

Happy Thanksgiving Wolverines! This time of year is always really exciting. We get to see our friends and family back home, get to have a break from preparing our own food and/or settling for whatever the dining hall has to offer, and most of all, we get a few days off school. Here at Her Campus, we are thankful for all these things, but we are also thankful to be a part of this amazing organization with over 400 chapters located in nine different countries. To show how thankful we are, we teamed up with the Her Campus teams at the College of Holy Cross, Lassel University and the University of Puerto Rico.

This week I had the pleasure of meeting—virtually—with Miss Maddie Kelly from the Her Campus chapter at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Maddie and I happen to share a name, but more than that, we also share some interests and passions so sitting down and talking to her was great.

Maddie is a junior at Holy Cross and is in her second year with Her Campus. Maddie is also the social media chair for Her Campus for her chapter. I asked Maddie what her favorite Her Campus memory is and it actually plays well into her current position and her future ambitions. Maddie’s favorite memory is from her sophomore year when she did a social media take over. She said that it was really fun to get involved in the organization and to explore this new role of working with social media. This experience is what inspired Maddie to become the social media chair, and it has also influenced her to pursue a career at a female media company working in writing, editing, and social media management.

Outside of her work with Her Campus, Maddie enjoys writing (naturally), thrifting, going on runs, and cooking with her family. And on top of that impressive resume, she also gets to say that she is a Sagittarius—it really doesn’t get much better than that.

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday season, Maddie and I talked about who we are most thankful for. For Maddie it is her little brother Noah. Maddie’s family adopted Noah when she was 11 and he was just a baby. Maddie has got to watch Noah grow up and she couldn’t be more grateful for her baby brother.

I am thankful that I had the chance to meet with Maddie for this collaboration. From all of us at UMich Her Campus, we wish you the best of luck in everything you do, and have the best time this holiday season!

Maddy is a student at the University of Michigan in the college of Literature, Science, and the Arts. She is majoring in History and minoring in Education for Empowerment. Maddy is a writer, feature editor, and Marketing Director for Her Campus at UMich.
