Spare a few minor Red Carpet Extravaganzas, now that the Academy Awards are over, Award Season is officially wrapping up.  Although a lot of people (a lot of men, in particular) are probably jumping for joy at the mention of this fact now that the Celebrity Apprentice will be occupying their Sunday nights rather than E!’s live stream from the carpets, I for one am completely saddened that I can’t  indulge in my favorite guilty pleasure:  watching Giuliana Ransic, Kelly Osbourne, and Ryan Secreast interview the best of the best.  (Confession:  I probably love Award Season more than Joan Rivers.)  If you’re into fashion though, you know that watching red carpet streams are more than just yelling your opinions of Heidi Klum’s dress at the TV. What the stars come to the shows wearing are the hottest current trends, or indicators of what designers are showing in their upcoming collections.

If you missed the memo on some of the trends this Award Season, or if you didn’t catch any of the shows, here’s a list of the perfect 10 trends of the season, along with how to transition your favorites into your daily wardrobe!

  1. Add a little sparkle!  Loved LeAnn’s gold sequin dress at the Grammys? Use it as inspiration for a weekend night out!  Pieces like this skirt from White House Black Market bring just the right amount of shimmer!
  2. Purple for every skin tone!  It’s hard to try to wear a gorgeous lavender look like Mila Kunis’s Academy Awards dress without looking like you’re dressing up for Easter.  But this season, so many designers are showing nearly every shade of purple in their spring collections that there are plenty of different cuts and colors available for choosing!  Try out Rebecca Taylor’s leopard print lilac dress for any occasion!

  3. Texture doesn’t always make you look bigger!  Hillary Swank at the Academy Awards is the perfect example that when made correctly, textured, extravagant dresses add elements of elegance, not bigger bulge!  Instead of going as far as Swank, tone down feathers and show off a long torso with a drop waist dress for cocktails with friends.  The white dress shown is Xeninya and can be bought at Neiman Marcus!

  4. Red never goes out of style.  Taylor Swift’s CMA dress this year proved that a classic red dress is timeless.  Just adding a touch of red to your evenings out will make you look confident and sexy.  Bring Taylor Swift’s simple elegance to date night with a shorter, strapless dress by Nicole Miller.

  5. Covering up can be just as sexy as baring it all!    Angelina Jolie never looked better with a floor length gown and long sleeves!  Shorten it up for your weekend nights out with a brighter spring dress from ABS.

  6.  Amazon woman!  Transition one-shoulder dresses into your wardrobe with this shorter cut from BCBG.  Belt the look for a relaxed effect that could transition from party night to Sunday brunch!

  7. Um, she actually wore that?  Yes, Nicki Minaj’s head to toe cheetah-print ensemble was completely crazy, but I have to applaud the stars who wear exactly what they want.  Especially because this year, crazy seemed to be the norm at the Grammys!  Liked what you saw?  Quirk up your wardrobe with accessories rather than full-blown outfits!  I love these pumps from bebe that add just the perfect amount of cheetah!

  8. Shoulder pads!  Although many dread their return from the ‘80s, Anne Hathaway brought them back to the  the Golden Globe’s red carpet with poise and charisma.   If you want to try this look, don’t buy a dress with the pads built in, they can be oversized and the fit can be bad.  Instead, buy a pair that fit snugly onto your shoulders.  You can dress them up like Kim Kardashian, or slip them casually under a chic top.

  9. Take a risk.  If you’re feeling really confident, try out one of the bold colors that designers are showing for spring with a deep v-neck like Sofia Vergara’s SAG Awards dress!  I love this more flowing, shorter version from BCBG.  With this bold shade of blue, you won’t go unnoticed at the next big party.

  10. Channel your inner goddess.  I loved Ciara’s beautifully flowing dress with blue details at the Grammy Awards.  Want to try out the look but have no idea where to wear it?  Try this maxi dress from Victoria’s Secret in the summer!  Maxi dresses are the perfect way to dress up a summer dinner on the beach!  Because of the length, the deep slit in the leg will add sex appeal without seeming trashy.
