I haven’t been drawn to the movie theater in a while, with the exception of Wicked, obviously.
I don’t know if it’s because things peaked with the summer of Barbenheimer, but I haven’t really been to the theater since. Lately, however, I’ve been seeing so many movies that look interesting.
Below, you will find a long (but definitely not complete!) list of movies coming out in 2025 and my feelings about seeing them. I am not sure how good some will be, but I’m looking forward to finding out!
Superman
I literally screeched when I saw the trailer. It was fantastic and has given me hope that action movies (particularly those in DC) will improve.
My younger brother’s high school physics teacher said he broke out into tears when he saw the trailer. I understand his feelings. I felt them too.
Also, Krypto will be in the movie! I can’t wait!
Mission: Impossible –The Final Reckoning
OH MY GOD.
*squeals*
This goes without saying.
If you haven’t seen any of the Mission: Impossible movies and typically enjoy action movies, please stop reading this article and educate yourself right now.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Marvel has had a bit of a dry spell in recent years, so I haven’t really looked forward to anything except for a few select movies like Deadpool & Wolverine (fantastic movie, highly recommended by the way) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and a few of the TV shows. This year, however, I have so much more to look forward to!
A trailer dropped recently and it got me really excited. I felt something at the end of that trailer trickling a little into my heart. Is Marvel finally giving me hope again? We’ll see!
How to Train Your Dragon
The original animated version was probably my most-watched movie throughout my childhood. I loved it so much and I have so many memories of watching it with my brothers. I could probably recite lines from the movie word-for-word today.
Now that I’m older, I can describe what makes it so perfect. It has amazing visuals, the plot is strong, and the relationship between Hiccup and Toothless is precious. It also helps that the next two movies were very solid as well, which gives me hope that there will be another two live-action movies.
I cried when I heard the theme music in the preview. I guess I’m just as bad as my brother’s physics teacher. I didn’t know I needed this, but apparently I did.
Thunderbolts*
I. AM. SO. EXCITED.
My two favorites, Yelena and Bucky (my man!), are in this.
The preview looks fun.
I am so ready.
Captain America: Brave New World
Sam! Wilson!
He was hilarious in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a fantastic show that I highly recommend if you haven’t seen it.
I am a little worried because of what Marvel has released recently and some of the rumors circulating about the movie, such as that test screenings went badly enough that there were extensive rewrites and reshoots, but I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt because I was really excited when the first trailer was released.
Avatar: Fire and Ash
I absolutely love the Avatar movies. I am so excited and very hopeful that this will be great!
If you haven’t seen the movies yet, I highly recommend them.
(I’m also looking forward to the edits iykyk😉).
Wicked: For Good
*SCREAMS*
I need it to be November NOW.
Cynthia Erivo’s voice was breathtaking, especially at the end during “Defying Gravity”, and Ariana Grande was hilarious in “Popular.” Overall, the movie was much better than I expected it to be, and I already had high expectations. After we saw the movie, my friends and I sat in silence for a few moments when the credits began rolling, staring at the screen in shock.
I never saw the musical in person, so I’m not sure what is going to happen in the second movie. I heard the soundtrack for the second movie is also really good, and since I haven’t stopped listening to the first movie’s soundtrack since November, I can’t wait to have more to listen to!
Jurassic World: Rebirth
I often watched the original Jurassic Park movies growing up and always enjoyed them. The recent Jurassic World movies were decent, but not good enough for me to rewatch.
I thought they were done with the last Jurassic World movie, which could have been a good move after the whole series wasn’t received very well by critics and longtime Jurassic Park fans, but we’ll see how this one does!
I think that they should’ve dropped “World” from the title. Some separation from the last series might do them good…
The Electric State
I don’t know much about it, but the summary and trailer look decent, and there’s Millie Bobby Brown. That’s all I need.
Karate Kid: Legends
I am a big Karate Kid and Cobra Kai fan! If you haven’t watched either of them, I highly recommend both. Though some of Cobra Kai gets tedious due to the constant angsty fighting (you’ll understand once you watch), other parts improve the series.
Again, the trailer got me excited and I can’t wait to see how it does!
I’m a little sad there’s no Johnny though, he’s great.
Avengers: Secret Wars
I am not sure how this will be, but I have hope! It’s been a long time since an Avengers movie, so I have high expectations. Also, the Russo brothers directing it, whenever they’re present, you know something is going to be good.
Also, Bucky. That’s all I’m gonna say about that.
A Minecraft Movie
*sighs*
My second-grade self would be ashamed of me if I didn’t watch it.
Zootopia 2
Nick Wilde! My favorite!
The first movie was so good that it didn’t need a sequel, but now it’s coming whether we like it or not. I’m a little nervous because sequels don’t typically go well…
But they’ve been working on this for a while, so I have high hopes!
Paddington in Peru
I don’t remember much from the other movies, to be honest, but I remember Paddington being really cute, so I’ll watch it. It’ll probably be a feel-good movie like the last two.
I think we’re all going to be making several trips to the movie theaters this year, unless you’re like my mom and wait until movies are streaming.
As mentioned before, this is not a complete list. There are many more exciting movies coming out in 2025 like Freakier Friday, so I highly recommend looking up a list to keep track.
I hope that I got some of you excited about what’s coming! I know I am.
