The idea of having someone to “cuddle up with” over the holidays is being shoved down our throats more than wanting to shove a kalteen bar down The Angels’ throats after seeing the ego-bruiser that was the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (or so my Twitter feed told me). In all seriousness though, why is there such an emphasis on getting a boyfriend in college ESPECIALLY around the holiday season? What’s so wrong with wanting to focus on you and have fun playing the field without worrying about something serious? If you find someone you like why is there so much pressure to put a label on it? Some girls say they’d rather show interest in dating seriously because guys might overlook them for relationships later on. Other girls say that guys honestly could care less and if its meant to be it’ll be. I talked with this week’s Campus Cutie to get a guy’s opinions on girls who just want to have fun.

HC:  Have you noticed the recent obsession with relationships lately?
JM:  Yes, everybody’s getting wifed up these days.  Probably because people don’t want go out in winter as much and dudes want a steady hook-up in the off-season.

HC:  At this point in time, what sounds more appealing: a girl trying to settle down in a relationship or a girl who wants to keep things fun and casual? Why?
A girl who wants to settle down. Hooking up with randoms is fun for awhile, but nothing compares to having somebody who’s there for you all the time to watch movies, or text, or just hang out with.

HC:  Are guys more likely to write off a girl for a relationship later on if she’s not looking for a serious relationship right now?
I would say yes. If a girl isn’t down to settle down when you are she might come off as a party girl and it’s hard to consider those girls actual girlfriend material.

HC:  How would you define your ideal Collegiette ™?
She’s got to be smart, have a quirky sense of humor, and her own style. I’d rather a girl be a little weird than ditzy.

HC:  Which is more appealing: girls who can just chill with and have a good time or girls who go out and have weekends that could end up on The College Town Life?
A girl who you can just chill with. Finding somebody who you can spend all day with and talk to for hours is much more special than a random girl who everybody talks about getting with.

HC:  What’s your advice for college girls regarding the pressure to jump into relationships?
Don’t jump into anything when you first get into college. I would test the waters with parties and guys and what friend group you like before committing to somebody.
