The Holiday season is an overwhelmingly exciting time of year.  Everyone gets together to celebrate great family and friends.  It doesn’t matter if it’s Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other holiday, getting presents for the people close to you is a must.  This can turn any holiday spirit you have into a living, stressful nightmare.  Buying presents becomes a hassle and chore, especially if you’re a struggling college student paying for rent.  Here are some great gift ideas you can get family and friends for the holidays.  Don’t hesitate to get creative!

  • Dad:  Getting your dad a present can sometimes be the easiest present you can get.  Fathers are more than appreciative for anything you get them for the holidays.  If your dad is a sports guy you might look into getting him two tickets to next week’s Michigan Basketball game.  Or if your dad isn’t into sports, how about a nice Michigan tie?  He can still sport your school’s team at the Christmas dinner table.
  • Mom:  finding a present for your mother is where it can get tricky.  You want to get her something that she will treasure forever as well as use all the time.  Maybe your mom will love a silk scarf?  Make sure to nicely wrap the scarf in tissue paper and include a handwritten card.  Moms always save everything you make them.
  • Best friend:  There is no one you know better than your best friend.  You know everything about her from what she did last week to what she has in her closet.  So what do you get someone who already has everything?  Well, you can get them a memory album.  Fill it with pictures of all the times you spent together.  Or you can make an itinerary for a road trip you guys will take next summer; plan everything from what hotel you will stay at to what songs you will listen to in the car.
  • Siblings:  Everyone has a love, hate relationship with their siblings; sometimes you want to kiss them, other times you want to kill them.  Why not get them tickets to the movie they have been dying to see in theatres.  Grab a few tickets for them and their friends as well as their favorite movie theatre candy and send them off for a fun night.
  • Roommates:  Your roommates are the people you spend the most time with; they are there for you in the good times and the bad.  What better way to thank them for everything they’ve done for you than getting them personal gift coupons?  Coupons can include washing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom this week, or cooking dinner for them Friday night.
  • Grandparents:  Most grandparents love putting up infinite amounts of pictures of their grandkids all over the house.  So why not get all your cousins together, take a picture and frame it for your grandparents.  Guaranteed next time you come over your grandmas for Sunday night dinner, you’ll see your picture hanging on the wall.
