With spring break already over and professors throwing masses of papers and tests at us, making the trek to the CCRB to work on that summer bod becomes more difficult every day. Luckily, you can easily get a daily workout without even leaving the comfort of your dorm! Put the lazy excuses aside and forget hiking across campus, here are three ideas on how to get fit without stepping out of doors:
Â
Â
- YouTube workout videos: Always dreamed of having a personal trainer? With YouTube, a fitness guru is just one click away. Grab your roommate and some friends in the hall and try a different fitness video each day. Search “womens fitness videos” and add keywords such as “yoga,” “pilates,” “abs,” “zumba” or “cardio” to get exactly the type of workout you are looking for. A personal favorite? The Firm: 5-Day Abs. These five videos target a different area of the abs each episode and, if completed five days out of the week, you will definitely see the results! The cheesy 80’s music and spandex-clad instructors also make for a hilarious time.            http://www.youtube.com/user/flip373

- Skip the elevator: After practically snowshoeing around campus in your Ugg boots all winter, pressing that button for the elevator to take you to your room or class seems like the obvious option. Taking the stairs, however, is a great way to sneak in a workout without actually going to the gym! You will burn three times more calories than riding in the elevator AND have the chance to tone your gluteus, quadriceps, and calf muscles. For extra exercise, try taking the stairs two at a time and focus on lunging and working your muscles. Who needs a StairMaster when you have a class on the twelfth floor in the Dennison building?

Â
- Just dance: Who says you need a frat to break it down with your friends? Take a break from your homework and pump the jams in your dorm room! Not only will you get a great workout, but that stress from your Calc homework will shed along with the calories. Websites like fratmusic.fm offer great mixes to dance to and can make a thirty-minute workout fly by. And when you hit up that late night on the weekend, you’ll have the perfect moves and bod to catch your campus cutie’s eye.
