Name: Drew Dyer
Major: Social Computing Informatics
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Holt, Michigan
Her Campus:  Tell us about your experience in the Navy ROTC. How difficult is it balancing your NROTC commitments with your school work and other extra curricular activities?
Drew Dyer: ROTC isn’t too bad. We work out a few mornings a week, take a few extra classes, and wear our uniforms on Thursdays. Thankfully ROTC is earlier in the day than everything else, so it’s not too bad.

HC: What does being on Magnum [the ultimate frisbee club team] entail?
DD: Playing on Magnum is great. We play at Oosterban Field House a few nights a week, do crossfit a few days, throw on the weekends, and sometimes do extra practices. Two weeks ago we went to Charlotte, NC, and left ranked. It was a good weekend. We’re heading to Myrtle Beach soon and to St. Augustine for spring break as a team. That’s gonna be interesting.

HC: Tell us about Kappa Theta Pi [Michigan’s only professional technology fraternity]. What made you decide to join?
DD: When I came into my informatics class, KTP kids took over. I figured, if you can’t beat em, join em. They’re a great group of people and I’m gonna have a great time with them.

HC: What’s the first thing you notice in a girl?
DD: A girl’s smile. Nothing better than being able to see a beautiful smile all of the time.

HC:  Michigan girls are known for their beauty and brains. Is it intimidating to date a girl who is intelligent and knows what she wants out of her career?
DD: Definitely not. It’s empowering. I’m into entrepreneurship and starting things. Any girl who knows what she wants and is passionate enough to go after it is okay in my book.

HC: At what point in a relationship would you say it’s ok for your significant other to meet your family?
DD: Whenever it seems natural. I love my family, so I’m not scared to scare her away. But I just want to make sure she’s cool with it.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
DD: In ten years I’ll probably still be flying for the Navy, but I’m really interested in startups so I’ll probably have a business or two by then. As far as a family goes, we’ll see.
