Name: Drew Dyer
Major: Social Computing Informatics
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Holt, Michigan
Her Campus:Â Â Tell us about your experience in the Navy ROTC. How difficult is it balancing your NROTC commitments with your school work and other extra curricular activities?
Drew Dyer:Â ROTC isn’t too bad. We work out a few mornings a week, take a few extra classes, and wear our uniforms on Thursdays. Thankfully ROTC is earlier in the day than everything else, so it’s not too bad.Â

HC:Â What does being on Magnum [the ultimate frisbee club team] entail?Â
DD:Â Playing on Magnum is great. We play at Oosterban Field House a few nights a week, do crossfit a few days, throw on the weekends, and sometimes do extra practices. Two weeks ago we went to Charlotte, NC, and left ranked. It was a good weekend. We’re heading to Myrtle Beach soon and to St. Augustine for spring break as a team. That’s gonna be interesting.Â
Â
HC:Â Tell us about Kappa Theta Pi [Michigan’s only professional technology fraternity]. What made you decide to join?
DD:Â When I came into my informatics class, KTP kids took over. I figured, if you can’t beat em, join em. They’re a great group of people and I’m gonna have a great time with them.
Â
HC:Â What’s the first thing you notice in a girl?
DD:Â A girl’s smile. Nothing better than being able to see a beautiful smile all of the time.
Â
HC:Â Â Michigan girls are known for their beauty and brains. Is it intimidating to date a girl who is intelligent and knows what she wants out of her career?
DD:Â Definitely not. It’s empowering. I’m into entrepreneurship and starting things. Any girl who knows what she wants and is passionate enough to go after it is okay in my book.Â
Â
HC: At what point in a relationship would you say it’s ok for your significant other to meet your family?
DD:Â Whenever it seems natural. I love my family, so I’m not scared to scare her away. But I just want to make sure she’s cool with it.Â
Â
HC:Â Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
DD:Â In ten years I’ll probably still be flying for the Navy, but I’m really interested in startups so I’ll probably have a business or two by then. As far as a family goes, we’ll see.
