Are you the type to curl up with a good book on the weekend? Or do you prefer spending your free time catching a movie with friends? Maybe you like doing both. With so many popular book-to-screen adaptations being made in recent years, it is a great time to be a book and movie lover. Here are some book-to-screen adaptations to expect soon, giving you some time to read the book so you can watch the movie or TV series once it releases.

The Housemaid

The Housemaid, written by Freida McFadden, is a psychological thriller following a newly hired maid who discovers dark secrets about the Winchesters, the wealthy couple whom she works for. The movie, set to release on Dec. 19, will star Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar. If you’re looking for a dark novel to match the chilly, autumn air, this would be a great choice to pick up right before December rolls around and the movie releases.

The Nightingale

The Nightingale is a historical fiction novel by Kristin Hannah, recounting the story of sisters, Vianne and Isabelle, during World War II. Dakota and Elle Fanning will fulfill the roles of the two sisters, marking their first time starring in a film together. The movie is set to release on Feb. 12, 2027, so whether you’re a history lover or your New Year’s Resolution for 2026 is to read a new book, The Nightingale may be a great book to add to your TBR.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

The iconic Hunger Games movies franchise is back, this time adapting Suzanne Collins’s fifth Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping. The book was just published this year in March and follows young Haymitch throughout the 50th Hunger Games. Fans marvelled that it was an excellent read, so if you’re a fan of the books and the movies, be sure to catch up on the series before the movie’s expected release on Nov. 20, 2026.

Genuine Fraud

Genuine Fraud is a suspenseful YA thriller by E. Lockhart, author of the viral sensation We Were Liars. Rain Spencer, known as Taylor from the hit The Summer I Turned Pretty series, will star as Jule, a social chameleon who assumes the identity of heiress and friend Imogen. If you enjoyed the We Were Liars book and Amazon Prime show, or enjoy Spencer’s acting, make sure to read Genuine Fraud and be on the lookout for this screen adaptation.

The Inheritance Games
Author Jennifer Lynn Barnes just announced this month that her viral YA series The Inheritance Games will be adapted into a series through Lionsgate Television. The first book follows 17-year-old Avery Grambs who is left the inheritance of billionaire Tobias Hawthorne but has no idea who he is. With a lot of time before readers can anticipate the series to be released, this is a perfect time to jump into the series and join the discourse on who should play the enigmatic Hawthorne Brothers!
