Your Summer Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Music can have a powerful affect on a person. Certain songs seem like they should only be listened to during a specific time. We all do it: have specific playlists for the gym, studying, and of course, nice weather. The connection between a song and the time of year is inevitable. Here’s the soundtrack for your upcoming summer fling, new adventures, and late summer nights.

Driving: Crystalised by: XX. Relaxed, but not too slow, Crystalised brings the right beat to your speakers and the artists signs the perfect hush tones. It’s almost cinematic and makes you feel like you’re going on a journey. Take this song with you on a road trip. Sooner or later, you’ll forget you’re driving and just enjoy the sun in your face and wind through your hair.

Cranking out work: Essential Mix by: Netsky. This song is a continuous remix that goes on for an hour, changing up the music every few minutes. If you love doing work to music, this great mash-up will definitely motivate you. The best part is, you don’t have to wait for a new song or skip over the bad ones.

Party: Sing to Me by: Thomas Gold. Although it starts out with a simple beat, the music drops at just the right time. There aren’t any very substantial lyrics, just great music to get your blood pumping and your body moving.

Summer love: Big Jet Plane by: Angus & Julia Stone. Picture yourself wrapped in your sweetheart’s arms, watching the stars or huddled around a bonfire with all your friends. What should come to mind is a great love song: a song with lyrics that you and your sweetie can relate to. This tune will instantly warm your heart, and if there’s someone special, there’s no doubt you’ll be thinking about them. If it’s too slow, check out the remix: Take You Higher by: Hook N Sling & Goodwill.
