Why Leaving School For The Summer Is So Bittersweet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Another semester has come and gone and as we prepare for finals and the move out, the feeling is nothing more than bittersweet

On the one hand, almost everyone is excited to see old friends from home, but leaving behind our college friends (some of whom live very far away) is hard!

After eating in the dining halls all semester long, home-cooked meals are well deserved. However, we’d be lying if we said we wouldn’t miss Finger Food Fridays or Late Night at Berk.

Lack of homework, studying, and papers are certainly plusses, but the time gained is replaced by work and other responsibilities.

With summer break comes beach trips and tropical vacations, but as time goes on some of us may begin to miss the party scene here at UMass.

When returning home it’s always nice to revisit your favorite childhood spots, but the itch to come back to the awesome college town of Amherst will eventually resurface.

Leaving school for the summer is both exciting and saddening, but remember, Collegiettes, there’s always next semester
