The Sunday Reset: How Your Sunday Routine Can Change The Trajectory of Your Week!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

No one has ever told me that I remind them of a Sunday, but everyone knows how seriously I take my ‘Sunday Resets’ and, that’s basically the same thing, right?

In all seriousness, I am a firm believer that you can set the tone for your upcoming week by having a productive Sunday. Setting a realistic and maintainable routine for yourself automatically sets you up for success. Here are some simple tips to incorporate into your Sundays that I have found help me to put my best foot forward for the upcoming week.

Sleep in!

As you head into a new week, one of the most important things is making sure you are well-rested. If you are able to, take advantage of being able to sleep in and recharge your energy for the week. Plus, it is much easier to be productive when your energy levels are restored.

Clean your room/living space

As you progressively get busier throughout the week, keeping your room tidy might fall on your list of priorities. Take a little extra time on Sundays to refresh your living space, and head into the week with a clean slate.

master your Shower & Skincare routine

When caught up in busy weekdays and late nights, we often do not allow ourselves enough time for a long shower and our full skincare routine. This can look different for everyone, however, setting some time aside to take care of yourself prepares you for a successful week ahead.

meal prep

Don’t be intimidated by the phrase ‘meal prep,’ this does not have to be seven fully cooked meals packed, and stacked in your refrigerator. This can simply look like sitting down and planning out what meals you are hoping to eat. By outlining some of your week’s meals, you are able to give yourself some structure in the upcoming week. This can also make grocery shopping much easier!

plan out your upcoming week

Using whatever method works best for you, take time to think through your week and write down any upcoming due dates. My favorite way to organize my upcoming week is to physically write down all my assignments for the week, as well as make daily to-do lists. Even though this sounds simple, the satisfaction of physically checking items off your to-do list is so rewarding.

homework!

The “Sunday at 11:59 p.m.” deadlines always catch up to us quicker than expected. So, get started on that homework assignment you have been procrastinating! Although this is one of the least exciting steps of a Sunday reset, it is essential to make sure you do not go into the week already behind on assignments.

go to bed early

We all know how painful it can be to hear your alarm going off Monday morning…so make it a little easier for yourself by going to bed earlier on Sunday night! As busy college students, we often overlook the importance of sleep until we find ourselves already exhausted halfway through our week. You can prevent this mid-week exhaustion by making sure you start the week with restful sleep.

Although all these steps seem simple, when you make them a priority you are also prioritizing your upcoming week’s success! I hope these tips help you keep your Sundays a little less scary…
