Finals are approaching, and that really only means one thing: studying. Even though studying isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I wanted to share some of my favorite music that makes hitting the books feel a little more palatable.

“affection” – BETWEEN FRIENDS

This is one of my tried-and-true favorite songs that has stood the test of time. Perfect for studying, walking to class, and jamming in the car. So whether you’re locking in at Du Bois or chilling with friends, this song is going to get you through it.

“Campus” – Vampire Weekend

A little cliche with this pick, but I just feel like it encapsulates the feeling of being in college so well, and sometimes that’s all the study motivation you need. Honestly, I think the whole album is worth a listen, so definitely check that out during your next study sesh.

“Sunday Morning” – Maroon Five

We all know it, and we all love it. This is such a nostalgic banger, and it’s perfect for doing homework on a rainy Sunday. Paired with some Jack Johnson, the quintessential vibes are sure to get you an A on one of your final essays.

“Tears Dry On Their Own” – Amy Winehouse

One of the most empowering songs ever written, this is sure to give you a boost to get you excited to learn when you’re in a slump. There’s nothing better than letting Amy Winehouse fire you up about getting an education. And what’s more exciting about life than being an educated woman?

“The Adults Are Talking” – The Strokes

Need something to keep your energy up during a late-night cram session? This one’s for you. With its steady beat and slightly rebellious tone, it’s the perfect reminder that even if you’re buried in notes right now, you’re still effortlessly cool.

“Motion Sickness” – Phoebe Bridgers

For those moments when studying turns into existential reflection (we’ve all been there), Phoebe’s got your back. Her vocals are soothing yet powerful, making this song a go-to for background listening when you need to feel all the feelings but still get things done.

“Good Days” – SZA

An essential for your “it’s all going to be okay” playlist. “Good Days” feels like sunlight through the library window when you’ve been there for hours. It’s hopeful, grounding, and just vibey enough to make you believe in your ability to power through.

“Bags” – Clairo

This song hits that perfect mix of calm and emotional; ideal for late-night studying when you’re in your feelings but still need to get through that final essay. It’s soft, relatable, and just moody enough to keep you in the zone.

“Pink + White” – Frank Ocean

Frank never misses, and this track is no exception. It’s lush, smooth, and somehow makes even the most chaotic study session feel cinematic. Play it when you’re walking across campus with your headphones in and pretending you’re the main character, because you are.

“We Find Love” – Daniel Caesar

If you need something soft and soulful to help you unwind while cramming, Daniel Caesar’s smooth vocals will do the trick. “We Find Love” feels like a deep exhale: gentle, heartfelt, and just the right amount of melancholy. It’s perfect for those quiet moments when you’re reviewing notes and realizing that, somehow, you’re going to be okay.

Finals season can feel endless, but a good playlist makes all the difference. Whether you’re vibing to Amy Winehouse or zoning out with Frank Ocean, remember: good music and good focus go hand in hand. Now grab your headphones, queue up these tracks, and go ace those exams. You’ve got this!
