Spring is approaching and I’m getting excited for the cold to leave and be replaced with the warmth of the sun. Spring and summer approaching means car ride’s with friends where the windows are down and the sound of the wind is almost inaudible from the sound of our music. If you’re the friend who is on “aux duty”, it’s essential to have songs that you and your friends can jam to. I’ve made a playlist featuring old and new songs from different genres that you can play anytime to get into the springtime mood.

“Golden” by Harry Styles

“Golden” is the first track from Harry Style’s second album, Fine Line. The song gives off a Fleetwood Mac type of vibe in its intro and has you wanting to dance. The upbeat tune of the song masks the somber lyrics. Styles described the song’s vibe perfectly when he describes listening to Golden while driving in Malibu during his time recording the album. If Styles says “Golden” is the perfect song for driving around, then we can’t argue with that.

“Sundress” by A$AP Rocky

“Sundress” by A$AP Rocky is an upbeat song with elements of disco and rock. The song was released in 2018, but I’m still constantly listening to the song when I need a boost of good energy in my day. The song samples a Tame Impala song, creating a great melody. Listen to this song while driving around in your favorite sundress this spring!

“Lost in Yesterday” by Tame Impala

Tame Impala recently released their new album, The Slow Rush in February. One of my favorite tracks from the album is “Lost in Yesterday”. The beat of the song is what makes it perfect to blast on a spring day in the car. I can picture this song being the soundtrack of a sunset drive by the beach.

“Sunday Best” by Surfaces

Surfaces is a Texas-based music group with Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki. All of their songs have great tempos and beats that make you feel like you’re on an island relaxing on the beach. Their song, “Sunday Best”, is able to lift my mood in the first few seconds of listening to it. Surfaces had just recently released a new album called Horizons that’s filled with feel-good songs that are similar to “Sunday Best”.

“People You Know” by Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez released her album Rare in January after not releasing new music for a few years. Her new album encompasses the message of putting yourself first and not letting someone ruin your self-love and confidence. “People You Know” is a sad lyrical song, but has a dance tempo rhythm. The song is definitely relatable for listeners who have experienced drifting away from a friend, lover, or anyone that they were close to and then suddenly turned into strangers.
