Have a question for our RLCG Ben? Ask him using this form!

Question: “My ex-boyfriend and I broke up a few months ago, but every time I’m drunk with his friends they tell me how he’s still in love with me, but I haven’t talked to him. Do I believe them, and does it even matter what they say if he won’t say it?”

RLCG Ben: Hey, my question in this whole matter is why his friends are being the agents in this interaction, telling you how he’s still in love with you, yet this dude is nowhere to be seen. If he’s not being forward with you in whether he may or may not still love you, it could be one of two things. The first thing that could happen is that he has moved on from the relationship, as you very well may have, or he could just be too shy or reticent on this matter to bring it up with you or to even see you. The latter is just in that guys are weird. Oftentimes they may not want to admit their feelings outright. Emotions are kind of strange territory for some guys. Anyhow, if you want to see how he feels about you, unless this was a particularly acrimonious/bitter breakup, you could try just asking him. I don’t know in what context you would, but whatever works,  I suppose. He may still be into you, he may not, you’ll never know until you ask if you’re that intrigued by what his friends say.
