Justin Bieber has done it once again. His new album “Justice” has taken the No. 1 Spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. This is no surprise since the songs on it are captivating and can easily be listened to on repeat. Bieber introduces a unique, vulnerable sound while partnering with powerful artists such as Khalid, Benny Blanco, The Kid LAROI, and Daniel Caesar. The songs reflect how he is in a good place in his life and that he is trying to spread positivity and love. It is clear that a lot of work was put into this album and it deserves the top spot.

As someone who has listened to Justin Bieber’s songs since “Baby” came out in 2010, it is hard to choose just five songs, but here are some songs that stood out to me while listening to this album — on repeat lol.

“Unstable” (feat. The Kid LAROI)

This is my favorite song on the album because I recently started listening to The Kid LAROI who often has a melancholy sound that makes the song even more intense. “Unstable” is about how relationships saved both Justin and The Kid LAROI from falling into a dark place. The message of the song is that overthinking and anxiety can be overbearing feelings but it is important to remember that you have loved ones who will help you get through the tough times.

“Peaches” (feat. Daniel Caesar & Giveon)

This song gives off driving in the summer with the windows down vibes. It is currently No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Daniel Caesar and Giveon have amazing voices and the collab is just something we never knew we needed until hearing this absolute masterpiece. Let’s just say summer 2021 got a whole lot better with this song.

“Lonely” (with Benny Blanco)

“Lonely” is a solemn ballad that acknowledges the emotion of loneliness. Justin Bieber lets his guard down in this song by reflecting upon the hardships he faced in his younger years. It can be hard at times to be an artist starting at such a young age and Justin expresses this by singing: “And everyone saw me sick / And it felt like no one gave a shit / They criticized the things I did as an idiot kid.”

“Holy” (feat. Chance the Rapper)

“Holy” first premiered on Sept. 18, 2020, and the music video was released six months ago. The music video shows how hard the oil industry was hit by the pandemic and the power of having faith. The song is empathetic and takes a spiritual tone when Chance mentions God in the last verse. When listening to this song, I just feel hopeful that everything will eventually be alright.

“Ghost”

This passionate song is about longing for someone you love, not just romantically, but also a family member or best friend. Justin is singing these deep lyrics with someone in mind. Unfortunately, many people have lost someone this past year and can easily relate to the lyrics: “If I can’t be close to you / I’ll settle for the ghost of you.”

The distinct impact of this album is that Bieber’s fans get to connect with him on a personal level making the songs raw and moving to listen to. Writing this article has allowed me to gain a newfound appreciation for the songs on “Justice.” I am glad to have learned more about a singer whose music has been in my life for over a decade and will hopefully continue to be inspirational.
