Everyone has that one embarrassing story that haunts them for, well, EVER! Mine just happened to be my freshman year here at UMass. It was first semester freshman year and to put it simply, I was having a hard time adjusting to the dining hall food. I grabbed lunch at Berk before my afternoon class in Mahar and gulped down a cup of coffee along with it. BIG MISTAKE. I had my eye on a certain boy who also happened to be in my college writing course. When I got to Mahar I saw him sitting down and decided to go for it and take the seat next to him. We had never spoken a word to each other but that was going to change.

I sat down and he looked up and smiled at me, said hello, and asked me my name. I turned bright red and through the humungous grin on my face replied back. The room got silent and the lecture began… as well as certain other sounds. All of a sudden I felt my stomach start to shift and then a noise shot out that sounded like it had come over the microphone, but instead had come from my stomach. I tensed up and tried to ignore what was happening. I began to get very hot and sharp stomach pains began to strike. If I got up and left I would ruin the chance to talk more with my crush so I decided to wait it out. As I made my decision to ignore the signs that I should probably go to the restroom, disaster stuck. Groans and growls and every sound possible came screaming out of my stomach. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned. It was my crush, “Excuse me, are you ok?” Then, laughter. Him and his two friends bursted out laughing and surrounding heads began to turn to look at me. Why was this happening to me and why now?!?! Before I knew it, my backpack was packed and I was runnning for the back door. I’ll keep what happened next to myself, but I’m sure you have an idea. However, to this day I have not seen that guy anywhere on campus. Hopefully he transferred because I don’t think I could bear to see him again!
