Meet Emily Thompson, a 21 year old junior Public Health and Communications double major with an Economics minor. When she’s not in class or participating in a long list of extracurriculars, she’s also working at Boston’s Children’s Hospital. We sat down with Emily to learn more about her and her time at UMass!

HC: I know you’re super involved on campus, what types of clubs and activities are you involved with?

ET: I’m a UMass Tourguide, an advisor for the Communication department, a sister and executive board member of Sigma Kappa, and a member of UDance.

HC: What is your ultimate dream job?

ET: Event coordinating and fundraising for non-profits. From everything that involves the actual event itself to running the business of it as well.

HC: What do you like to do in your free time?

ET: I don’t really have much free time, but when I do, I like to go on hikes with a few friends and just get away from everything for a little while.

HC: Who is your current celebrity crush?

ET: Drake…. No explanation needed.

HC: Any guilty pleasures?

ET: I love nutella and peanut butter sandwiches!

HC: Where is your favorite study spot on campus?

ET: The Hub in the ILC. It looks over the pond and chapel. It’s really quite and a good environment to learn. It also hosts a ton of cool events.

HC: What is on your UMass bucket list?

ET: 1. Make it to the 23rd floor of the library because it has the best view of campus
     2. Go to a taste of UMass
     3. Go figure skating at Mullins

HC: Any suggestions or advice to the students of UMass?

ET: UMass is a huge school and at times, especially for first years, can seem daunting. However this school has more opportunities, resources, clubs, activities and things than you can imagine. My piece of advice is to join something you never would have thought of joining before. I joined Sigma Kappa, which has been one of my biggest blessings in addition to being a tour guide, which has given me such an amazing appreciation of our wonderful university. In addition, these two positions have given me so many leaderships opportunities that I’ll be able to utilize beyond my time here at the university. I love UMass and everything that there is to offer here.
