A Letter to Guys and Their Lackluster Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

To the guys who don’t try on Halloween:

Would it really kill you to be a little more creative? You have all this creativity when it comes to almost everything else but you can’t try a little for this one weekend?

But seriously think about it, you think of amazing ways to increase your time sitting on a couch. You think of ways to get your assignments done as soon as possible with putting in as little effort as possible.

Instead of grabbing a jersey from your closet and saying you’re Tom Brady this halloween, I dare you to actually try. I dare you to stop judging girls on their outfits and want to impress US as much as you want us to impress you. Women already have the burden of carrying on the stereotypical “slutty” Halloween costumes, the least you could do is put a little creativity into your costume.

So guys, let’s see a little elbow grease in your outfits this Halloween. For once, you deserve to have the best outfit in the room.

HCXO,

Sarah

U Mass Amherst

Hey everyone! My name is Sarah Freudson and I'm a junior studying Legal Studies and Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at Umass Amherst! I am a sister of Sigma Kappa Sorority and am very passionate about philanthropy. I volunteer my time as an art assistant, spending time with the elderly and visiting the sick at hospitals. My one goal in life is to visit as many countries as possible.  I am Ukrainian and I go back to the homeland to visit family as much as I can!The most significant thing about me is my idolization of F. Scott Fitzgerald. His quote: "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had," literally dictates my life. It shows the importance of volunteering along with the realization of how lucky we all are for our given circumstances.  I'm the type of girl that looks at the glass half full, thats for sure!!
