Knock, Knock! The Best Celebrity Homes Featured on Architectural Digest

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

One comfort activity of mine is going to Architectural Digest’s YouTube page and watching the tours of celebrity homes. The tours are like an adult version of MTV Cribs (for those who remember). These lavishly decorated mansions all have their own interior style that suits each celebrity’s desires. Some are luxuriously modern with all the high tech gadgets, others are rustic and serene with oceanfront views, and some are as eclectic as their owners.

As someone who used to avidly play Sims as a kid, these impressive homes bring to life creative designs and interesting features of dream homes I used to imagine. With over 100 celebrity home tours available on AD’s YouTube page, there is limitless inspiration for home decor and style. I chose to share my top five favorite homes based on style, decor, and the likelihood of me wanting to live there.

Kendall Jenner’s peaceful escape

First off, I’m obsessed with her deep greenish-blue kitchen cabinets with white marble countertops. I don’t enjoy cooking, but maybe if I had her kitchen I would. The rest of her home features a cool-earth toned palette with vibrant pieces of artwork which show both a peaceful and fun side to the entire house. To end it all, she has her own art studio. Perfect for paint night with the gals!

NAOMI Campbell’s Kenyan villa

Naomi’s home is one of the most interesting, in my opinion. The house is almost entirely open, allowing the warm breezes from the nearby Indian Ocean to flow through. I love how she stayed true to the style of the home, which boasts beautifully handcrafted sculptures and art pieces influenced by the local culture and African history.

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard’s Brooklyn Brownstone

Is this house where T. Swift left her scarf? Most likely not, but this homey brownstone is certainly inviting and warm. I lost count of how many fireplaces they have in this house, but one thing is for sure: you won’t be cold here. Warm tones and lots of wood elements fill the home which compliments the 6 (?) fireplaces. I also love the green tiles (I love green, can you tell?) they use in their bathrooms.

Hilary Duff’s Family Home

Her home is open, bright, and family friendly. She has some very funky art pieces, especially the one in her living room, but for the most part her house is catered towards her children. Her kitchen is one of my favorite aspects because I think the backsplash is so unique and works so well with her deep blue cabinets. But the honorable mention for her home is the chicken coop in the backyard, which I want so badly in my future home.

Misty Copeland’s NYC apartment

Her living room looks so peaceful and soft. I love how cohesive all her artwork is in her home, and it all draws on a similar theme. She has many photographs of family members and of organizations she supports, which I love that she pointed out in the interview. Many white and gold hues fill her home to create a seamlessly soft ambiance. It’s a perfect mix of comfort and elegance. This apartment truly embodies the home of a professional ballerina.

Next time you feel the need to rejuvenate your space — or if you’re a little nosy like me and want to see inside the homes of your favorite pop culture icons — take a peek at Architectural Digest’s YouTube page for some inspiration.
