I’m Making a List and Checking it Twice: Here Are My Brilliant Boyfriend-Gift Ideas

Updated Published
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

When I asked my boyfriend what he wanted for Christmas his responses varied from “I don’t know” to “Don’t get me anything.” As someone whose love language is gift-giving, and who spends hundreds on Christmas gifts each year, this was not going to do. If you’re stumped on what to get your man for the holidays, here are my go-to ideas that are perfect for gifts and stocking stuffers alike!

Cologne

You almost always cannot go wrong with some nice-smelling cologne. You can find great quality cologne for a variety of prices and places, depending on your budget. I personally shop at Ulta, and I make sure to get the best deals and FREE gifts with my purchases. This year I got my boyfriend Gucci cologne and I know he’ll love it. But, if you’re tight on money some great places to go include Target, T.J. Max, and Marshalls, which have AWESOME deals on cologne.

Socks! I repeat Socks!

Go to his sock drawer, look at what socks he wears, and then order them online. I promise you, men don’t usually think to buy themselves what they NEED. Half the time their socks are crusty and dusty and they are in desperate need of new ones. Socks are a great gift, I personally love getting socks because mine are always magically disappearing. You can totally get creative with it too, get some silly socks or cozy boot socks!

Candles or Car Fresheners

Who doesn’t love a nice fresh scent in their room or car? You can get candles or car fresheners from almost any store, and as long as they smell good, that’s all that matters! Once again my personal favorite stores are Target, T.J. Max, and Marshalls, but you can’t go wrong with Yankee Candle or Bath and Body Works. Nature scents are always a go-to for me, a lovely smelling pine-tree scent is to die for.

Legos/Video Games/ Activities

Depending on what your boyfriend is into, it would be a great idea to get something that you can work on together. You can get a Lego set that is perfect for building with two people, or get a multiplayer video game on whatever console he prefers. A gift like this can be thoughtful, something you both like and the bonus is that you spend time together, who doesn’t love that?

Snacks

Snacks are PERFECT for stocking stuffers or just filling that gift bag a little bit more. Get his favorite snacks, candy, and drinks and add them to his gift. My boyfriend is a vacuum cleaner when it comes to food, as many guys seem to be. And who doesn’t love snacks? This is a great thing to add for a low low price, especially if you go places like Walmart which usually has some great deals.

M&Ms
Alex Frank / Spoon

These are all some really easy gift ideas for your boyfriend that work for a variety of budgets. Try not to overthink the gifts too much, because as long as it is thoughtful or something that made you think of him, he will love it. In my experience, guys aren’t that hard to please, which makes shopping for them pretty easy. Good luck with shopping and make sure to always look for the best deals ;) Happy Holidays!
