Join the women of the Radiant Rho Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Soul TV and, Her Campus UMass Amherst tomorrow, February 26th from 7-9pm, in the Malcolm X Cultural Center (directly below Berkshire Dining Commons) as we delve deeper into beauty standards that affect women of color, representations of women, and female empowerment.

“We have planned this event because we feel it is important to address gender inequalities and focus on the promotion of female empowerment, social justice and the human rights initiative,” says member of Rho Kappa, Victoria Smith.

“Our focus as a student run organization is and always will be, to provide a platform for students like ourselves to artistically express themselves, but as leaders in the UMass community we try to address issues that surround us as well. This event is not only for addressing the issues surrounding the ‘universal standards of beauty,’ but for providing an outlet for women empowerment and community activism as well,” says Soul TV President, Jennifer Lee-Felix.

Mary Kay will be providing makeup tutorials for women of all skin tones as well as giving away free makeup!

Forever Reigns, an up-in-coming apparel company based out of UMass, will also be providing samples and giveaways from their Spring Collection.

Drinks and desserts will be provided!
