As a consumer, you have a choice in what makeup brands you purchase. Unfortunately, it is common for us to see many companies running unethically, to gain as much capital as possible. One of the biggest problems with the cosmetics industry today is that many companies perform harmful tests on animals, which usually end in death. We should all do our part to stay away from unethical brands, and buy from humane companies. Thankfully, the makeup market does have many options to shop for cruelty-free products!

Foundation – Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

If you want you skin to look airbrushed level amazing, this is the foundation for you. Too Faced credits their products to being “totally cruelty free” and also includes a list of vegan-friendly products on their site.

Contour – Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

Turn your face from round potato to Angelina Jolie in seconds with this great contour palette! Anastasia Beverly Hills states they always test on their clients and never animals.

Blush – Argan Color Stick

Operating under the slogan “luxury with a conscience”, supermodel Josie Maran’s cosmetics line strives to use ingredients and packaging that will have the least impact on the environment. Along with being animal-friendly, all products are made with 100% Organic Argan Oil, which lets this blush stick apply smoothly to your cheeks.

Eyeshadow – Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

The naked palettes never seem to fail, the third installment offers a great range of rosey shades. Urban Decay commits to being ethical, even making sure their suppliers raw materials are cruelty-free. Urban Decay is certified by PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program.

Eyeliner – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

The name speaks for itself- this Kat Von D liner will give you such a precise line that it looks like you just stepped out of a tattoo parlour. The company is proud to admit that “Kat Von D Beauty never tests on animals—and never will.” They even tag items with #VeganAlert to make vegan-friendly shopping easy for their customers.

Mascara – Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

Everyone knows what it’s like to have a good eyelash day- and you can make everyday one with this mascara. Marc Jacobs Beauty never tests on animals or use ingredients tested on animals, nor do they sell in China, where animal testing is required by law.

Lipstick – The Kylie Lip Kit

If you’ve gotten your hands on a Kylie Lip Kit, chances are your lip game has gotten 100% stronger. It’s not surprising animal lover Kylie Jenner makes sure her products are cruelty-free. Her site notes that “Kylie Cosmetics products are not tested on animals, and all shades of The Kylie Lip Kit are vegan.”

With all the options for cruelty-free products, there is no reason to shop from companies that perform horrible tests on innocent animals. Make a point to research the companies you are purchasing from, and do what’s morally right. Not only will you look good; you will feel good.
