Living downtown in Amherst is such a fun and exciting time for me and my friends! This is my first year living with friends off campus and it is a great experience! The past two months I have been able to discover how to live on my own without the support of living on campus and the independence is thrilling! I love being able to come home from class and just hang in a living room, cook my own meals, and shower with no flip flops!

Farmer’s Market

The Amherst Farmers Market is something that my friends and I look forward to every Saturday. We walk over with our reusable tote bags and pick out the freshest fruits that are grown locally in our area! You can even fill a bucket with as much food as you want at one of the stands for only $10! If you’re interested in just walking around they have some great free samplings, but be careful because everything is so tempting that you might walk away with a cute succulent and a loaf of olive bread!

The Works

The Works gets me. It is there at my best, my worst, and everything inbetween. I would describe it as a more local Panera Bread that has something to cure any hankering. If you are trying to eat healthy, you can enjoy a nice quinoa bowl or dive deep into a cheesy serving of mac ‘n’ cheese. The Works has great options for breakfast, lunch, and early-dinner. It is great to study and get work done!

Bubble Tea

The amount of bubble tea cafes in Amherst are endless. Whether you decide on LimeRed Teahouse or ViVi, you can’t go wrong! Grab your girlfriends and hang out, do work, or take your bubble tea to go! Not only is bubble tea refreshing, but it is also pleasing to the eye. You’re able to take the best instagram story of your bubble tea with the cutest background to get the most out of your tea– let others know you are drinking it!

The Black Sheep Deli

The Black Sheep is great for a morning after a night out. They have amazing breakfast sandwiches that’ll make you feel just right after a long weekend night. The Black Sheep is great for lunch, and as you wait in line, you’re able to ooh and ahh over there amazing looking pastries. I usually give into the placement of the pastries and snag a cookie for my dessert.

Mass Vintage

Mass Vintage is new to the downtown Amherst community, located on Boltwood Walk, Mass Vintage has the most retro clothes, hats, and bags. Great finds for people looking for athletic jerseys and oversized tees! Perfect for your next tailgate outfit inspiration. The best part about the store is the dog that has been there each time I have gone in! Check it out yourself the next weekend you’re free and I promise you’ll find something you love!

Living downtown is something that I appreciate immensely. Living with great friends, having the ability to live here because of my great family, and being able to catch any bus from the Post Office is much appreciated when I am running late to class! Check out these awesome places – you won’t want to miss!
