Five Iconic Female Characters I Stole My Personality From

While I love to believe my personality is uniquely my own, I couldn’t help but steal some traits from some of my favorite movie, television, and book characters growing up. These are some of the women I think helped make me the person I am today.

Katniss Everdeen

In middle school, The Hunger Games and Taylor Swift were my two personality traits. Katniss was so endearing to me because she was put in an uncomfortable and scary position and rose to the challenge. I loved her courage and ability to challenge herself and others. She did things that no one expected her to do. Katniss inspired my confidence and ability to stand up for myself and others. Even when she had doubts, she would do what she believed in and what she thought was right.

annabeth Chase

Annabeth is my favorite character in the Percy Jackson series and was the very first character I felt a deep connection to. Her confidence in her intelligence and abilities was something I needed because I was a smart kid, but I always felt like I was second best. Similar to Katniss, Annabeth’s doubts come through, but her selflessness has her put her friends and those she cares about first. Her growth throughout the series was nice to see and showed me that I was capable of growing and changing as well.

elle Woods

Elle Woods is a character that showed me it’s okay to wear pink and be feminine but also work hard and aspire to be something more than just a pretty face. Legally Blonde may be a comedy, but the character of Elle is relatable to girls like me who are taken as the “blonde bimbo” because we might act and look a certain way. She shows that being a woman and being taken seriously in your profession do not have to be separate entities. This has allowed me to feel good being myself while pursuing a career in business and not separating my personality.

Hermione Granger

Hermione is similar to all of these characters in that her confidence in her abilities is strong and she would do anything for the people she loves. Her growth in the series is most relatable because you can see her child-like innocence and stubbornness fade and her compassion and maturity grow. Her relationship with Ron is also genuine and when she opens up and takes her walls down she is fun and exciting to be around. Her outer shell is hard, but deep down she is an emotional and caring person.

Sam Puckett

Sam and Carly’s dynamic in iCarly is one that my best friends and I have implemented into our lives so well. Her confrontational attitude and not letting behavior slide, especially when it affects her friends, is something I’ve actually admired after rewatching the show. She takes no crap, and won’t let Carly take any either. While she can be a bit stubborn and annoying, ultimately she is a selfless person underneath the hardened attitude, and anything out of pocket that she does is usually in service to her friends.

From a young age up until recently, these five strong female characters helped shaped my personality and made me who I am today.
