Five Fall Inspired Desserts to Try This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Happy fall, Collegiettes! Fall is a fabulous season that has so much to offer: apple picking, corn mazes, halloween, and so much more. With Halloween coming around the corner, you may be thinking of hanging out with a group of friends or going to some sort of fall-themed party. What better thing to bring with you than some fantastic fall-themed baked goods? These fall-inspired recipes (other than being super easy to make, especially in a dorm room) are really unique and totally delicious!

Before you start baking anything, make sure you have all the right tools. If you didn’t bring any baking pans or other cooking supplies to school with you, don’t worry! Check your RA’s office or your Residential Service Desk, and they should have everything you need available for you to use!

1. Pumpkin Pie Dip

If you don’t want to bake anything, try a Pumpkin Pie Dip! There aren’t too many ingredients that you need, and it looks great (and tastes great, too). If you’re going to a party or just having a few friends over, this will definitely be a hit. Serve it with something a little sweet, like graham crackers or Nilla Wafers.

2. Apple Pie

Probably one of the best things to eat during the fall is a nice, hot apple pie. They’re great, but in the dorm it can get to be pretty difficult to make the pie crust just right, and there is no way you’re not going to get flour everywhere. Instead of making a whole pie, try these Apple Pie Baked Apples! Instead of making a full-sized pie, you put the filling inside of a core, and putting only small strips of crust at the top. If you don’t want to make a homemade crust, you can just buy frozen premade crusts at any grocery store!

3. Caramel Sauce

This next one isn’t a full-on baked good in itself, but if you want to spice up your pumpkin bread, apples, and pretty much anything, put some of this caramel sauce on it! It’ll definitely make your fall treat stand out from the crowd.

4. Baked Pumpkin Nutella French Toast

Breakfast food is basically the best kind of food, right? French toast is amazing, so why not put a fall twist on it with this Baked Pumpkin Nutella French Toast? Just from looking at those pictures, you can tell it’s delicious! And the best part is, you don’t have to fuss with a bunch of different bowls before cooking it. Instead, everything just goes in the baking dish and you’re ready to go!

5. Boxed Treats

If you are one of those people who don’t like to bake from scratch, there are plenty of boxed treats that are great for fall too! One of my personal favorites is the Chai Latte Cupcake Mix that you can buy from Target around this time. They’re super great and it comes with everything for the cupcakes and the frosting. All you have to do is add water and eggs!

Some of the best baked goods are made during the fall. All those apple and pumpkin recipes are to die for! It’s always fun to make those traditional treats, but it’s great to try new things or make a fall-inspired dish yourself! Either way, anything you make can be a hit. Happy fall and happy baking!
