I have watched countless videos and edits to Charli XCX’s trending song “Everything is Romantic,” with the repeating lyrics “falling in love again and again.” After consistently hearing this song, it got me thinking about all the things I have recently been falling in love with during the transition to autumn. While summer will remain my favorite season, there are tons of reasons to fall in love with fall again and again. Here are 6 things I have fallen in love with again, as well as some new things I have fallen in love with this season.Â
- Noah Kahan
-
Listening to Noah Kahan is the epitome of fall, and I am constantly putting all his songs on repeat. His songs are the encapsulation of fall vibes, with earnest lyrics and somber musicality. Most of Noah Kahan’s music is cozy and nostalgic and sings about New England fall, which is perfect to listen to at UMass Amherst while the leaves fall around you.
- Fall Outfits
-
I am a sucker for sweater weather. Anytime I can pull out my cable knit sweaters and leather jacket, it is a good day. Fall outfits are really easy to style and include fun layers, while still being comfortable and warm. More neutral and warm colors are added to match the surrounding scenery, while allowing you to easily include fun pops of color through accessories like bags, bows, or shoes. One new thing I have fallen in love with this fall are the Birkenstock Boston clogs that I finally caved and bought. They are a versatile wardrobe staple to include in any fall outfit.
- The Flavors of Fall
-
I have been falling in love with all the amazing flavors of fall again. Every year, I await the arrival of pumpkin spice lattes, one of my absolute favorite flavors of fall. I have again fallen in love with anything apple, whether it’s eating freshly picked apples with caramel dip, Atkins apple cider donuts, apple cider, or apple crisp at the dining halls, I will love it all. I recently baked an apple cinnamon loaf with my friends, and it was delicious! I have also loved trying all the fall desserts at the dining halls, including pumpkin ice cream at Frank, as well as any flavor of danish, all of which are tasty.Â
- Football
-
As of this fall, I played in my first Fantasy Football league in hopes of dominating my family members. Currently, I am not dominating, but it is fun learning about it, drafting players, checking on the team each week, and most importantly making a fun team name (mine is The Summer I Turned Purdy, with Brock Purdy as my quarterback). While fantasy is new for me this fall, I have always enjoyed Sunday afternoons watching football on the couch as the season turns colder. This year there have been a lot of edits, funny recap videos, and locker room chats with players on TikTok. I also enjoy going to UMass tailgates and getting dressed up for some school spirit, but especially getting to eat hotdogs.Â
- Halloween
-
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because I love planning my costumes and getting to dress up. It is difficult to try and come up with a fun costume idea that won’t make you broke, but I love when it comes together and then getting to see everyone else’s costumes too. Spooky season can be very fun with horror movies, pumpkin carving, spooky decorations, and trick-or-treating. I have fallen in love with making Halloween costumes and decorating my dorm room with pumpkin pillows, mini pumpkins, and Halloween mugs!
- Reading
-
For one of my classes, I was required to read Frankenstein, the perfect spooky Halloween classic to read this time of year. It reminded me how much I enjoy reading fall books, and I decided to read a few from my fall to-be-read list. I have also found a few spots around campus to read outside to enjoy the view and fall breeze before it gets too cold outside. I would definitely recommend curling up with a fall book and watching the season change to autumn!
But one thing I have fallen in love with again, the most this fall, is watching the leaves change colors all around campus, making it super colorful and gorgeous. I always want to take pictures and capture the beauty forever. These are just a few things Charli XCX’s song reminded me of things that I have fallen in love with this fall, and I hope that you have fallen in love with new things during this season of change, too!
