Country Music Really Isn’t That Bad: My Top 10 Favorite Country Songs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Before I judge anyone for not liking country music, I have to admit that I was once a country music hater too. Finally, in my freshman year of high school, I grew up and realized that country music is actually amazing. It’s now by far my favorite genre of music, and If you listen to these recommendations, it’ll be your favorite too.

“After a few,” Travis Denning

“After A Few” is the perfect song for you if you’ve ever struggled to let someone go, even though you know you should. It’s the kind of song you can scream at the top of your lungs on a car ride with the windows down. This song has been one of my favorites ever since it was released in 2019.

“In love by now,” Riley green

“In Love By Now” is a song about the girl that got away, and if you’re delusional like me, you can pretend that girl is you. Overall, it’s a very catchy song, the sad theme of the song is contradicted by the upbeat tune.

“23,” Sam hunt

“23” is a great song for whenever you’re feeling nostalgic, and you want to reminisce on a certain time in your life. This song will most definitely be playing on my 23rd birthday, and if your 23rd is coming up you have to add this to your playlist!

“outrunnin’ your memory,” Luke combs (Feat. Miranda Lambert)

This song is by two amazing country artists, what more can you ask for? Miranda Lambert and Luke Combs sound absolutely amazing together on this track, you have to listen for yourself!

“one thing at a time,” Morgan Wallen

Just like every good country song, “One Thing At A Time” is a song about love and drinking. It’s a more light-hearted take on a heartbreak song, it’s very upbeat and catchy!

“Talkin’ Tennessee,” Morgan Wallen

“Talkin’ Tennessee” is a great song if you want to get a feel for what it’s like living in the South. I’ve never been to Tennessee, but this song makes me wanna go. If you are from the South, it’ll probably give you a feel for life back home.

“Handle on you,” Parker Mccollum

Again, like every great country song: heartbreak and drinking. This song is more of a sad one, definitely not the type of song that you’d scream out the window on a summer day. It’s still a catchy song that embodies everything country music is.

“wild as her,” Cory Kent

This is by far one of my favorites, it’s perfect for all you crazy girls out there. If you’re wild, and you love to party, this song will make you feel seen.

“fall In Love,” Bailey Zimmerman

One more great heartbreak song for you all. Even if you’re not going through heartbreak, I still think you’ll love this song.

“everyone she knows,” kenny chesney

“Everyone She Knows” is a song about the fear of growing up and feeling like you have to have your life together. It’s a reminder that everyone moves at their own pace, and there’s no need to feel rushed because it’s your life, not anyone else’s.

The trend of hating country music is over, there are many good country artists now, and there always have been. There are also many different sub-sections and types of country music, you just have to find what you like!

If you still hate country music after this list of recommendations, I really can’t help you there. But, I think you’ll change your mind if you give country music a chance.
