The last few weeks of college are winding down to be memories that I will hold with me as I go forward. By the time this is published, I will have walked across a stage and moved a tassel over my head from one side to the other. I will have graduated college. This is a big moment in my life and it is less than two weeks away. Graduation is the closing clause to this chapter I spent four years on

Looking back, this chapter has been one of the best of any so far. In this chapter, I have learned an immense amount about myself and life. I have met some amazing people and have been positively impacted by so many friends that have made me better. I have gained main characters in my life over these past four years and it has been a pleasure to have grown so close to them.

I have done things I never thought I would and have taken trips in this chapter I did not see coming. This chapter of college contained moving out of my parent’s home and learning to take care of myself. It contained a global pandemic that changed the world as we knew it. It contained trips to New York City, California, and a summer on the Cape. It contained sleepless nights spent laughing all night with friends and ski trips with college roommates. This chapter holds some of the most memorable and magical activities.

I am sad that the magic within these past four years is behind me. But these memories will always exist in my head and that is pretty special. The next chapter may be closing my time spent in college and some goodbyes lay ahead, but the growth I have gained and the friendships I have fostered will follow me as I go onto the next phase of my life.

Although I am sad to leave behind what I have done, I am more excited for the future. I am excited to start a new chapter because I know that so many more memories are to be made. I haven’t met all the people I am supposed to. I look forward to that. I have more to grow and much more to learn. This next chapter holds the possibility of being the most challenging and therefore most rewarding. It holds a world of possibilities.

The closing of a chapter is of course sad but also sparks a time to reflect on all the good and all the lessons I have learned that can allow me to do better going forward. Closing one chapter allows a new one to open and it’s a necessary part of life we must do to continue to flourish. I think the purpose of this life is to keep learning in an attempt to always do better for yourself and for others. It is also in my opinion that in times like these when one chapter is closing that we grow the most and have moments that allow us, as humans, to learn a lot about ourselves.
