Alex and Sierra: 6 Covers You’ll Fall In Love with Before Their Album Drops

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Simon Cowell’s latest vocal competition, America’s version of the hit UK series The X Factor, was canceled in February of this year after three semi-successful seasons in the states.

If you didn’t tune in last season to catch up on Demi’s outright refusal to pick a hairstyle:

Paulina’s rants about babies and math:

…or, of course, Simon’s daily dose of sass:

…then you might have missed the sexy, quirky duo that snagged a win on the show’s final season in December.

Alex and Sierra, two twenty-somethings from Florida, won us over from the beginning with their slick and sultry version of Britney Spears’ “Toxic”, but no one could have predicted the evolution of their sound over the course of the show. Now, one X Factor victory and record deal later, the two are all set to drop their debut album, It’s About Us, on October 7th

But before you decide whether or not to snag your copy, here are a few of their best covers along their X Factor journey to give you a taste of what the upcoming album will sound like:

1. “Toxic, Britney Spears

2. “Gravity”, Sara Bareilles

3. “Say Something”, A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera

4. “I Knew You Were Trouble”, Taylor Swift

5. “Give Me Love”, Ed Sheeran

6. “Best Song Ever”, One Direction

7. “Say Something”, A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera (Final Performance)

The duo have revealed that they’ve been working on collabs with such music greats as John Legend, Jason Mraz, and Harry Styles for the upcoming album.

Can’t you just picture these two joining up with Legend and belting out a sweet acapella version of “All Of Me”?  That being said, preorder your copy of It’s About Us now on iTunes! And be sure to look out for tour dates to see when Alex and Sierra will be coming to a city near you!

Happy jammin’, Collegiettes!
