9 YouTubers That Will Brighten Up Your Bad Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Everybody inevitably has down-in-the-dumps days where nothing seems to make them happy and all they want to do is lay in bed and sulk. I get it. Sometimes the people around you just aren’t enough to make you smile. Never fear, that’s why the Internet exists. Here’s a list of YouTubers that are guaranteed to pick you up, make you laugh, or at least help you forget about the crappy day you’re having.

1. Roman Atwood

RomanAtwoodVlogs is the number one YouTuber to watch if you need a good dose of appreciation for family, friends, and life. This vlogger takes you through his day-to-day life alongside his girlfriend and their kids. Some of his vlogs are super wholesome and mundane while others have him filling his house with fake snow just so his family and friends can laugh and play all day (he’s a retired prankster, hence the crazy antics and childlike mind). Roman’s motto is “Smile More” and in a majority of his videos he reminds people that bad days are temporary so shake off whatever has you in bad mood and take advantage of the day you’ve been given.

2. Tyler Oakley

TylerOakley is the channel you’ll want to watch when you want to feel like you’re with a friend but not actually have a physical human next to you. He’s hilarious and sassy and talks about everything from Kim K’s app to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community.

3. Jenna Mourey

Okay, if you don’t know who JennaMarbles is then there is a serious issue at hand. She is essentially the queen of YouTube and is 100 percent guaranteed to make you crack up aka “hit you in your giggle-dick.” Jenna is constantly straight-up about the people and things that make life a drag and it’s always nice being reassured—especially when everything around you ticks you off—that you’re not the only one who gets ridiculously annoyed by the tiniest aspects of life. Jenna is definitely a great person to watch when your day sucks because she’s the realest YouTuber out there, without a doubt.

4. Julien Solomita

Julien Solomita goes hand-in-hand with JennaMarbles because they live under the same roof as the cutest couple on the Internet. If you ever lose faith in the male population and boys seem to just continually disappoint you, just watch Julien’s vlogs because he is by far the most caring, chivalrous, and funny boyfriend and he shows it in every video he makes. Whether he spontaneously buys his “otter” (Jenna) flowers or cooks her dinner after a long day, he manages to make his vlogs funny and romantic. He’ll give you hope in finding the perfect guy…even when it seems like all the good ones are taken.

5. Zoe Sugg

Zoella is a great channel to watch when your life seems just too mundane to handle and you just really want to live a primped and perfect life vicariously through someone who seems to have their act together. Her videos aren’t always super meaningful but sometimes it’s nice to see a “What’s in My Bag” or “Autumn Makeup Tutorial” video to take your mind off your life. This British sweetheart will make you forget about anything that’s bothering you, so sit back, relax, and get ready to binge-watch her entire channel.

6. Logan Paul

The name Logan Paul might ring a bell if you’ve ever used Vine. Yup, Logan Paul Vlogs is the same guy who created those iconic six-second videos of a guy dropping splits in the middle of the sidewalk like it’s no big deal. Just like in his Vine videos, Logan is an absolute riot in every vlog he creates and the fact that he includes a montage of his workouts in all of his videos isn’t a bad bonus when you’re having a bad day and need a ray of (sweaty and muscular) sunshine.

7. Caspar Lee and Joe Sugg

If you like prank videos and want to spend your leave-me-alone-day giggling at the misfortune of two people, then Caspar and ThatcherJoe’s videos are right for you. These guys make tons of other content aside from pranks but their tricks on each other are definitely some of the funniest videos to watch.

8. Liza Koshy and David Dobrik

Liza Koshy is another Viner that doubles as a YouTube star. She and boyfriend, David Dobrik, will have you forgetting about your bad day in no time. They rival Jenna and Julien for YouTube’s Best Couple because of how well they understand each other’s sense of humor. Their videos are short but pack in tons of laughs. However, if you hate puns and infectious laughter, I would steer clear of their channels.

9. Shane Dawson

All right, Shane wins the award for Most Relatable YouTuber because this guy has absolutely no filter and doesn’t care at all about how others will view his videos. Shane’s videos venture everywhere from “Dumb Life Hacks” to “Tasting KFC Foods.” Yup, this guy literally sits in front of his camera with bags and bags of food and taste-tests it while making hilariously inappropriate comments about them. His videos aren’t really of substance but they’re sure to make you keel over laughing. It’s no secret that successful YouTubers like him make thousands of dollars but he never flaunts his wealth or acts even remotely famous. If you need an Internet buddy that doesn’t give a damn, he’s the one to watch.
