In a world where it’s completely normal to obsess over every move and fashion choice made by celebs, I often wonder about the true personalities of the folks we hold on such high pedestals. Sure, I don’t have the resources to become friends with these celebs and actually find out, but that doesn’t keep me from thinking about it! So, here are eight out of the many celebrities (I think) I’d love to be friends with.

Danny DeVito

This list isn’t ranked but, if it were, Danny DeVito would top it. And I’m not the only one who’s eager to spend time with the legendary actor – in 2018, a high school student took a cardboard cutout of Danny DeVito to prom. The best part is, DeVito responded by taking a cardboard cutout of her to the set of his hit show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia! DeVito is also a self-proclaimed progressive who is passionate about the environment, healthcare, and more. I can’t imagine a better person to have a conversation with over rum ham.

Anthony Mackie

If you’ve been following along with Mackie’s recent work, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, then you’re already familiar with the fantastic chemistry he has with co-star Sebastian Stan. Throughout Mackie’s career, he’s had a streak of great chemistry with his fellow actors and actresses. He seems like the type of person who can get along with anyone, which is one of my favorite traits people can have.

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is widely regarded as one of the nicest celebrities in Hollywood. His talent is also unmatched. Age difference or not, there’s no one I’d rather have in my contact list.

Lizzo

There are so many reasons to want to be friends with Lizzo: she’s supportive AF about mental health and body positivity, into wellness and meditation, and incredibly talented. Lizzo is also a great dancer who likes to have fun and just has one of those infectious personalities that lights up a room.

Ilana Glazer

In an interview with Newsweek, Broad City‘s Ilana Glazer talked about how she and co-star Abbi Jacobson tried to cultivate the feeling that you the viewer were a part of their friendship in the show. Even after finishing Broad City four years ago, that feeling has stuck with me. Glazer is super unique in her sense of humor, mannerisms, style, and so much more. She is also very involved in social justice. What more could a gal ask for in a friend?

Dan Levy

If you’ve watched Schitt’s Creek then I probably don’t need to explain this one much further. Levy is such a naturally funny and clever person, and he has great taste in fashion. Meeting his dad would be a plus, too.

Larry David

If the term ‘no filter’ were a person, that person would be Larry David, aka creator of Seinfeld and star of Curb Your Enthusiasm. You can never predict what is going to come out of David’s mouth, but you can pretty much always bet that it’s going to leave you in stitches.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Speaking of Seinfeld, you know how some actors/actresses have a hard time separating themselves from prior iconic roles? Well, Julia Louis-Dreyfus definitely didn’t let her iconic role as Elaine on Seinfeld hold her back from future successes in her career. Louis-Dreyfus has solidified herself as one of the most talented – and hilarious – actresses in Hollywood right now. She’s intelligent and confident and absolutely someone I’d love to have a friendship with and learn from.

The odds of these friendships happening are slim, but a girl can dream. Which celebrities would you like to be friends with?
