6 Ways To Be A Prepared Party Girl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

As a party girl you’ve made your mistakes and you certainly have regrets. There are the nights you try not to remember, the ones you unfortunately don’t remember, and of course nights you never want to forget.

But, there is always room for improvement on your party girls ways. Read these six tips on how to be a more prepared party girl.

1. Buy a “Fracket”

The fracket is a concept most girls don’t fully learn until they are well into their college partying days. If you haven’t figured it out, “Fracket” is a term that combines the words jacket and frat. Clever huh?  It’s a warm, large, cozy, and cheap sweatshirt/jacket that you have absolutely no emotional attachment to. It quite possibly might become the least loved and most appreciated item in your wardrobe. This jacket has one purpose: to get you from your room to a party warmly. Frackets do not have to be cute, they do not have to fit correctly, and they do not have to match your outfit.

By the end of the night, you won’t care if your $5 fracket is covered in beer, frat sludge, or other strange unidentifiable liquids. If you lose it or some drunk girl steals it, so what?  My advice… make the fashionable sacrifice and leave your North Face at home. By the time you get to a party, no one will care if you are wearing a brand name jacket. Not having to stress about losing or ruining your expensive jacket is totally worth it. Party girls, do yourself a favor and buy a fracket. Oh, and another tip, as much as you don’t care about your fracket, you should still try to find a good hiding place for it once you get to the party!

2. Delete numbers on your phone that you don’t want to risk drunk calling or texting

When drinking heavily, calling and texting people in your contact list becomes an incredibly good idea.  That is, until the next morning when you are scrolling through your messages, jaw dropped, and wishing a time machine could take you back in time to slap yourself in the face for the conversation you started with your ex. Before you go out, eliminate all risk and delete numbers you don’t want to potentially drunk call or text.  Write down the contacts you decide to delete on a piece of paper and put them back in your phone the next morning. Take the precaution and avoid having the regret of all the unnessary drama, and overly emotional, creepy, embarrassing messages you decided to drunkenly tell people.

3Download a free phone locator app like Lookout Mobile Security

Every girl dreads mornings overcome with panic when you realize your cellphone is nowhere to be found. You start retracing your steps, figuring out who you texted last, and wondering where you could have left it. To be a prepared party girl, do yourself a favor and download a free phone locator app. Once you download it, you’ll wonder why you’ve gone so long without it. If you ever find yourself phoneless and confused, no need to panic, just turn on your computer and log onto your Lookout Mobile Security account. With the click of a button, a google map with show you where on this planet your phone is.  If you find that your phone is located somewhere in your house, the scream function is the perfect solution.  Even if your phone is on silent, a screeching alarm will sound, and you can follow the noise to its hiding place.

4. Wear an over the shoulder bag and don’t take it off

The great thing about wearing an over the shoulder bag to a party is that it’s almost impossible to lose.  If it’s always crossed over your body, you can be assured that by the end of the night it will still be with you in one piece.  Make sure to buy one that is small but big enough to hold the essentials for a night out.  I can guarantee that as soon as you start dancing, you will forget it is even there. Having all of your items in a bag that never leaves your body will give you one less thing to worry about. No stressing about dropping your phone while you dance or holding a wristlet that can be easily misplaced.

5. Have more than one taxi number in your phone

Never rely on one taxi driver to pick you up. Being stranded on a dark cold night in the middle of nowhere is a very unfortunate post party situation. Instead of ending your night on a stressful note, load up your phone with local taxi cab numbers. If your go-to taxi driver doesn’t follow through, you will have many other options for a ride home.

6. Before you go out, put a glass of water near your bed

After a fun filled night, the sight of your bed is a beautiful thing but before you drift off to dreamleand, drink a glass of water. Before you head out to a party, fill up a glass of water and put it near your bed. When you come home from your night out, the sight of your glass of water will remind you what you are supposed to do before your head hits the pillow. Making this a habit will make your mornings a lot less of a struggle.

Party on, Collegiettes.
