With fall coming to an end, there’s not much time to fit in our favorite autumn activities before the Winter comes. And let’s face it, New England winters tend to keep a lot of us locked indoors most weekends. Make sure to keep these activities in mind over the following weeks before it’s too late!
1. A short and sweet activity, pumpkin carving is a creative and inexpensive activity to do the Fall. I recommend buying a pumpkin carving kit at a local store (such as CVS) that comes with tools that make carving slightly easier for beginners. If you’re like me, and you don’t creative bone in your body, I suggest carving something simpler like a jack-o-lantern before trying anything too difficult.
2. Attend a football game! From my own experience at the UMASS vs. Boston College game at Gillette Stadium, it’s all what you make of it. No matter what the score is, attending a game with a group of friends is a great way to show your school spirit and have fun.
3. Pictures, pictures, pictures! As the leaves around campus fall to the ground, the Massachusetts scenery grows a little darker. Take as many pictures as possible before the snow takes over. There are plenty of places around campus with great scenery. For example, the disc fields near Central or the main hill leading up to Orchard Hill are both prime photo-op spots.
4. Starbucks seasonal Fall drinks are only available for a short period of time. If you haven’t tried a Salted Caramel Mocha, Pumpkin Spiced Latte, or an Oprah Chai Tea Latte, now is your last chance until next Fall.
5. Pumpkin-flavored anything tastes best in the Fall. Make sure to try and bake some pumpkin goods, such as donuts, muffins, and even cookies before the season ends.
Happy Fall, Collegiettes! Let’s savor it.
