5 Taylor Swift Tunes that MUST Be On Your Fall-Vibes Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

If there are two things I believe in this world, one, that Taylor Swift is the Queen of fall, and two, that no fall-themed playlist is complete without her discography. We’re well into fall by now, so make sure you’ve perfected your playlists for the season by adding on some of Miss Swift’s best fall tunes.

“Fifteen” – Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

Nothing screams fall like back-to-school nostalgia. folklore and evermore are filled with cozy fall music, but Taylor’s teenage angst in her earlier albums can’t be slept on when it comes to fall. Listening to this song feels like the first day of school, seeing all your friends again, and silly high school drama, so it’s really a can’t-miss.

“All Too Well” (Sad Girl Autumn Version) – Recorded at Long Pond Studios

We all know Red is Taylor’s quintessential fall album, and really as long as any version of “All Too Well” (other than the stolen version) is on your fall playlist you’re set. But my personal favorite version of the song is the “Sad Girl Autumn Version.” Taylor’s voice is so soft and beautiful, and something about the simple piano backing makes the song…hit different (iykyk).

“Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” – Lover

This is another song with fun high-school vibes, but a bit leveled up. All the imagery of football games and teenage drama is intertwined into the lyrics in such a unique way; I remember my jaw dropping the first time I realized she had incorporated the “Go! Fight! Win!” chant into the bridge. It’s much more of a fun, pop song than I feel is usually on fall playlists, so consider tacking this one on to add a bit of dimension.

“cardigan” – folklore

An obvious choice. My favorite Taylor song, my favorite folklore track, my FAVORITE favorite song. The incredible lyrics, the progression of the melody, and the way the song ends right back where it began when Betty snaps out of her daydream. Need I say more? I could write a 100-page paper on why this song is perfect, so save me the trouble and just listen to it.

“right where you left me” – evermore

I love evermore because it has the vibes of that time of the year when fall is transitioning into winter. Whereas “Fifteen” and “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” have that start-of-fall feel, “right where you left me” is a true late-fall track. The imagery in the lyrics is so strong, and even though the story is so sad, you just can’t help but dance to the melody.

Honestly, I could probably make a three-hour fall playlist of Taylor Swift’s music. Oh wait, I already did. And I expect it’s going to be even longer after the release of Midnights! The point is, Taylor has endless music with fall vibes from cozy to fun to nostalgic, so consider adding a few of her songs to your own playlists!
