With the stress of college hitting us all, Fall seems to be our only redemption.  Fortunately for us, the change of season comes with some incredible film releases. Look out for these titles this October and hold on to your popcorn because these films are going to take you on an emotional rollercoaster regardless of your movie taste:

Jexi

Jexi is an upcoming comedy, starring our fan-favorite Adam DeVine, that takes the issue of being attached to your phone to a whole new level. Assured to make you laugh, Jexi revolves around Phil (Adam DeVine) who is addicted to his phone but is in for a shock when he upgrades his phone to the latest model that comes with a beautiful AI called Jexi (Rose Byrne). Jexi helps Phil improve the quality of his life but things take a horrible twist when Jexi turns clingy and would do anything to keep Phil all to herself. Prepare to cry laughing because this movie is bound to make you look like the crying-laughing emoji.

The Addams Family

This classic, whacky, yet lovable family is back on the screens but this time around, they’re animated! This comedy horror film was a part of most of our childhoods and we can’t wait to see how our misfit family will face the greed and arrogance of the 21st century. Starring the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Snoop Dog, and other beloved stars, The Addams Family is set to impress us as we find out how the family deals with sly reality host Margaux Needler. (BTW – love the name!)

Gemini Man

Gemini Man is a sci-fi action film that stars Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an aging assassin, who is trying to retire but is forced to go against a younger clone of himself, named Junior, who can predict his every move. Directed by Ang Lee, who is the director of blockbusters like Life of Pi and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Gemini Man is a nail-biting action movie that will keep you glued to your seat.

Zombieland: Double Tap

A movie that needs no introduction for people who laughed at the original horror-comedy Zombieland, this sequel brings back the same cast, including Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone, reprising roles from the first film and has an amazing additional cast, with cherished names like Zoey Deutch and Luke Wilson. Watch the film with your friends and imagine your own squad slaying zombies with cringe but hilarious jokes.

Joker

Trying not to be biased here, but this one is a must-watch. Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker is a psychological thriller set in 1981 that focuses on the life of Arthur Fleck, a failed standup comedian who turns to a life of crime and revels in chaos in Gotham City. Watching the transition of Arthur Fleck, played by the award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix, into the Joker will most definitely take you on a ride. If you haven’t already, watch the trailer here – you won’t regret it. Joker releases on October 4th and you should make sure to book your tickets early so you’re not missing out.
