Recently, ways to get away from reality are really important to ensure a clear and balanced mind. Movies are a super amazing way to do this. Movies can make you feel so many things. There are movies to help heighten your adrenaline, create sadness, scare you…etc. During this time, finding movies that leave uplifting impressions are what is needed. So here are 5 movies I count as comfort films that as soon as they are done I feel relieved and less stressed.

Legally Blonde

In my book, Legally Blonde is a classic that puts me right at home. Elle Woods struggles with the fact her boyfriend broke up with her and, in hopes to heal their relationship and rekindle their flame, she sets out to get into Harvard Law School. This is odd for her and out of her character as a well respected sorority member and socialite. To everyone’s surprise she gets into Harvard and does well. Only to outshine her ex and his new fiance. This movie is entertaining, as well as comical. Reece Witherspoon plays a great and iconic character that is sure to liven your mood. The film has everything you could ask for!

Mamma Mia

This movie will forever be something that resonates with me and I know so many others. It never fails to brighten my mood and the aesthetic is on point and desirable. First off, it is based in Greece and filmed on a small island there! The beautiful scenery matched with the soundtrack is sure to lift your spirit. Not only does this movie look and sound good, it also has iconic actors and actresses that add excitement to the film. With Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfriend, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, and other fun and influential people, the film comes to life. It has drama, laughter, kindness, romance, and dancing. This movie is sure to leave you feeling recharged and enlightened after it ends.

Footloose (2011)

Footloose from 1984 is just as good as the 2011 version, yet the one from 2011 hits home harder! As you can probably guess, I am kind of a sucker for musicals and anything including dancing. It just makes me happy to see others in a state of letting loose, thus what’s better than a movie focused on dancing? Footloose is a story about a boy moving from Boston to Tennessee to a town where dancing, music, and drinking are all illegal. The conflict in the movie revolves around the kids of the town trying to reverse the rules set to keep them safe while also battling to not disrespect the elders in town. With various dance numbers, some romance, and comedy layered in all that goes on, this movie allows viewers to forget their own worries in the process of taking on the worries of the main characters and their desire to just dance and let loose.

Big Daddy

This is one of my all time favorite films. I am a huge Adam Sandler fan and this movie has everything at least I can ask for in a movie. This comedy not only makes you laugh more than just a little, it also has a cool New York setting and interesting plot. This movie also includes a lot of Adam Sandler’s right hand mates with Rob Schiender, Steve Buscemi, Peter Dante, and Allen Covert.

How to Train Your Dragon

Call me crazy, but this animated movie is literally so good. This film is action packed and creates a world in which is not real yet by the end, you’ll wish it was. The struggle within the village to kill dragons as they have been deemed terrible, destructive creatures and Hiccup, the main character and son of the chief of the clan, is the main point of this movie. We follow Hiccup throughout his adventures from finding a dragon and learning their true nature to then trying to defend them from his entire hometown. This movie keeps me on my toes and is just really entertaining. The dragons are also super cute and are sure to give you a little serotonin!

These are just a few of the movies that when they end, I feel really cheerful and happy. I recommend when you need a pick me up or distraction to watch any of these, they might just do the trick.
