Getting the perfect Instagram pictures and having an artsy feed are what most people strive for when using Instagram. I know I am amazed by how aesthetically pleasing some people’s Instagram pages are, and I always wonder how they got that certain “aesthetic”, or how one person could be so talented! I’m no expert, but I’ve found some editing apps recommended by many famous YouTubers and from my personal experience, they will definitely up your Instagram page and get you looking like a professional influencer.

1. UNUM

This app is great for seeing how a picture will look on your page and it’s so easy to use. All you have to do is type in your login information and the app brings up your Instagram feed. From there, you can insert pictures from your camera roll and see what they will look like with your other pictures. You can move them around and also remove old pictures to see how that will affect your page.

2. Huji Cam

The latest trend on Instagram is placing the date on the corner on your picture to give your picture a vintage look. This can be done using the app Huji Cam. This app adds a blueish and saturated filter to your picture (which has been the craze lately, and I’m sure you’ve seen it on your timeline). You can take pictures right on the app which will automatically add the filter, making it super easy to operate.

3. Afterlight

This app is great for placing light streaks on your pictures. You can pick which light streak you want, whether you want a stripe or a blotch of light, and then increase or decrease the amount of light. Another thing that’s cool about the app is you can move it around on your picture to your liking. I like this effect  especially for pictures outdoors! This app also has lots of filters and settings to adjust lighting, colors, etc.

4. Facetune

Facetune is great for whitening your pictures. Although this app costs money, I think it’s very much worth it! If you have a picture with an off white background or for example (below) a picture of a white shoe that’s dirty, this app is great for fixing that. All you have to do is zoom in on what you’d like to lighten, and swipe over whichever area you would like to fix. This app is also great for getting rid of red eye in pictures, and adjusting colors.

5. VSCO

VSCO is a really popular app that most people have, but I personally think it’s one of the best editing apps. If you use the same one or two filters on almost all of your pictures, it will give your page a theme and help all of the pictures flow together. Also, a trend on Instagram is to add the grain edit onto your pictures which can be found on VSCO. In this app, you can increase the brightness, change temperature and saturation, and so much more!

Happy editing, Collegiettes!
