5 Best Places for Your Hot Girl Walk Around Amherst

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

To kickstart the semester at UMass (finally!), I’ve compiled a list of my favorite places to go on my hot girl walks around the Amherst area. Just so we’re all on the same page here, a hot girl walk consists of you, your favorite playlist/podcast, and a supportive pair of sneakers. The great thing about a hot girl walk is that you can tailor it to your needs. Whether you like short distance, long distance, going alone, or being with a bunch of friends, these trails are all easy for everyone’s walking abilities so you can make it what you want!

Norwottuck Rail Trail

This once historic railroad has been converted into a pristine bike path that stretches from Belchertown all the way to Northampton. I admit I’ve only walked it from Hadley to Northampton, but the expansive view of the Connecticut River as you walk over the bridge from Hadley into Northampton is unmatched!

Fort River Trail at Conte National Wildlife Refuge

I explored this trail with my family when they were visiting, and although it is a shorter trail (~ a mile), it is completely wheelchair accessible which earns bonus points for inclusivity! It allows everyone to explore the various critters and gorgeous views of the Pioneer Valley.

Amethyst Brook Conservation

Just off of Pelham Road in Amherst lies this large conservation area with many trails to adventure on. The best time to go (in my opinion) is during early autumn when the leaves are just start to change color. While on your walk, stop to admire all the streams and river bends that this conservation area possesses.

Buffam Brook

This (roughly) two mile loop in Pelham features a river and waterfall! Although this trail does border the easy-moderate level, the scenery is well worth the effort. Quick tip: make sure to pay attention to the trail markers!

Lithia Springs Trail in Mount Holyoke State Park

This is an easy-level trail in the Mount Holyoke State Park that brings you to a reservoir and is for those who enjoy a picturesque view of water on their hot girl walks. This is an out-and-back trail, so it’s foolproof for those who may be directionally challenged!

I hope these suggested trails inspire all of you to get out and walk your way around the Amherst area and to discover all the beautiful scenery of western Massachusetts! Obviously, the UMass campus is an honorable mention for a hot girl walk because our campus is HUGE, so if you are unable to adventure out, you can always rely on our beautiful campus.

P.S. Please be sure to be courteous to the conservation land, to the other people enjoying the trails, and to the wildlife who inhabit it! Happy exploring :)
