There’s nothing worse than dry skin and cracked knuckles in the winter, here are a few skin care products to add to your shopping cart as the weather gets colder!

  1. Moisturizer

Moisturizer is often avoided by people who tend to have oily skin, because of the common misconception that moisturizer makes your face oily. Moisturizer is actually used to keep your skin soft and conditioned- plus, it eliminates the majority of unwanted natural oils your skin produces! It is extremely important to keep your skin healthy and nourished especially in the winter, when your skin gets more dry and irritated than usual. There are so many effective moisturizers that can be found at your local drugstore so make sure you grab some before the weather gets too cold!

  1. Skin conditioning oil/ cleansing oil

Another product that is often avoided because it is thought to be a leading cause of oily skin is skin conditioning oil. Believe it or not, using a certain kind of oil on certain areas of your skin that may be dry and irritated will solve your dry skin issues! Applying a small drop of oil to the affected area, and continue practicing this until the dry patch is gone. There are so many different oils to choose from, all you have to do is determine which one is right for you!

  1. Face masks

In almost every YouTuber’s skin care routine or favorites videos, you will most likely see a face mask included in the video. Face masks are so important for ridding your skin of toxins and simply giving your face a brighter, fresher look. If you’ve been breaking out a lot, it’s a good idea to mask in order to clear up your skin. After using a face mask, sometimes your skin can get dry if the mask is more intense or specifically used for exfoliating, in that case, it is always a good idea to make sure you apply moisturizer immediately after taking off your face mask. There are so many different types of masks, including rub/paint on, peel off, bubble masks, sheet masks and more. Before buying one, make sure that the mask you are looking for is best for you. If you aren’t familiar with face masks, try a rub on mask so you can control how you put it on and how you take it off. Peel off masks can sometimes do more harm than good, so when looking for a peel off mask, make sure you are getting it from a good quality store. Finally, when searching for any face mask, check the ingredients to make sure there’s nothing in there that could harm or irritate your skin. You know your body better than anyone else, trust yourself!

  1. Hand and body lotion

Much like moisturizer, lotions are crucial for keeping your skin soft and smooth in the winter. As the weather gets colder, it’s not uncommon for your hands to crack from the dry cold. Be proactive in taking care of yourself and apply lotion to your hands or any other part of your body that you may find it necessary to get some extra hydration or nourishment. Any drugstore, cosmetics company there are dozens of body lotions of various brands and scents, you’re sure to find the best one for you!

  1. Essential oils

Last but certainly not least, essential oils. If you haven’t already heard of them, your life is about to change for the better. Available in a variety of scents, including lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus and tea tree, essential oils are exactly what they are named- ESSENTIAL!!! Each scent helps with something different. Use lemon essential oil on your face if you’re running low on moisturizer, apply lavender to your wrist or on your pillow if you’re having trouble sleeping or relaxing, put a few drops of peppermint in your tea if you have an upset stomach, or simply inhale the eucalyptus oil through your nose if you have a cold. These are only some of the many things that essential oils are capable of, and they are a must have as the weather gets colder and cold and flu season gets closer!
