UMaine Dressage Hosts and Wins Big

By: Casie James

The University of Maine Dressage Team was up late Friday, April 5th and up early Saturday morning preparing for their home show.  Hosting teams Johnson & Wales, UNH, Bridgewater State University, and University of Maine at Farmington, the team was busy prepping for a long day’s work.  With many horses to braid and stalls to clean, the team had worked hard to make this home show a success.  With cold temperatures, it made for a colder day, but that did not take down the morale for the home team.

As the show begun Maine pulled out big wins with Kate Pouliot, Ali Conroy and Casie James taking first for their levels.  As the day wore on Maine kept putting on the pressure with Maine’s Emma Oppewall taking 5th; Jessie Darkis taking 3rd; Rita Goodwin taking 4th; Addie Beguelin taking 2nd;  with Ally Lebaron taking 4th.  That was not all as Maine won overall and riders Casie James and Kate Pouliot winning High Point and Reserve High Point with scores both 75% and 71%.

After a great show day, the team went to Johnson &Wales University and University of Rhode Island this past weekend.  Best of luck ladies with the rest of your season!
